Aakanksha Som

Over the past year, as Director of the UCLe VC Fund, I’ve worked closely with startups and our community to drive real impact. From managing our flagship competition, to supporting founders at every stage, I’ve seen first-hand what our members need to succeed.

My vision is to grow the society by securing more corporate sponsorships and funding opportunities. I’ll leverage my network, including connections at top VCs like Octopus, Albion and Fuel Ventures, allowing us to invest more in student startups and elevate our workshops and talks.

I also plan to host renowned speakers from leading firms like Sequoia Capital, with a focus on cutting-edge industries such as fintech, AI and Web3. These events will provide practical insights and connections to help our members navigate the entrepreneurial landscape. Building a strong, connected community is at the heart of my mission, so I will introduce a year-end alumni social, where current students can network with successful UCL entrepreneurs and VCs in a relaxed, informal setting. Alongside this, I will organise speed networking events every term to help members find their perfect co-founder, because great ideas are often born from great partnerships.

I am committed to nurturing an inclusive environment where every idea, no matter how big or small, has the chance to succeed. Whether you’re a first-time founder or a seasoned entrepreneur, UCLe will be a place where you feel supported and empowered.

Jonah Brink Dalton

I have hands on experience running a business, and as an executive committee member, I have seen and worked inside the society first hand.

I would like to be president in order to have a more involved, significant impact on the society as a whole.

I believe we can take entrepreneurship within the society and university to a whole new level, as there is so much ambition and diversity of thought and creativity amongst our cohort.
With that being said, I think I have what it takes to help make the society more impactful, expanding our membership and capabilities and reach as a whole for our fellow students.

Aarnav Agarwal

Hi! I’m Aarnav (BSc Information Management for Business), and I’m excited to announce my candidacy for President of UCLe!

As an executive for the Business Games and London Startup Fair, I’ve organised large-scale events, collaborated with industry experts, and developed relationships with Entrepreneurship Clubs across London. These experiences have sharpened my leadership skills and given me insight into the challenges student-founders face. Having worked closely with the committee over the past year, I’ve gained a strong understanding of its inner workings and identified key areas to maximise the value UCLe provides to its members.

My Vision:

  • Official Startup Tracker
Startups don’t always advertise internships and roles like big firms. I aim to launch a UCLe Startup Tracker: a live database of internships and part-time roles, giving members access to startup careers
  • Industry Partnerships
I want to leverage UCLe's strong network by:
    • Exploring collaborations with investors
    • Providing micro-internships to students for short-term experience
    • Increasing startup engagement through office visits and shadowing opportunities
  • Cross-Divisional Collaboration
Strengthen collaboration within UCLe’s vast committee through transparency, shared initiatives and social events

Vote for Luke (Treasurer) and Kerem (VP) too! Having worked together many times, we share a strong vision for UCLe and are committed to improving the Society.

Your ambition, your ideas, your UCLevote Aarnav to make it

Jan Chow

My name is Jan, and I am a 2nd-year Economics student and currently the Director of the Bloomsbury Startup Academy. Last year, I was a Kickstart Global executive, where I worked on fostering a stronger bridge between student entrepreneurs and the wider startup ecosystem in London.

This year, as part of UCLe, I have focused on supporting our entrepreneurial community by organizing high-quality events and engaging with VCs. Through this experience, I’ve seen firsthand how Europe lags in connecting venture capital and private equity to student-led initiatives, an issue that limits opportunities for young founders to gain real-world exposure.

UCL itself has long struggled with building a strong sense of community, and I believe we have the potential to change that.
My main objectives as president are:

  1. Cross-university collaboration – Strengthening ties with societies at London Unis and other top institutions to create a truly interconnected student startup ecosystem.
  2. Encouraging community building – Hosting regular meetups, including lunch and meal gatherings, to ensure student founders and aspiring entrepreneurs have a support system beyond formal events.
  3. Expanding sponsorship opportunities – Collaborating with partners to secure funding for competitions, not only across London’s leading universities but also internationally.

Entrepreneurship is tough, but no founder should have to navigate it alone. Through UCLe, let’s build, support, and succeed—together.
