I’ve always had a passion for literature and writing, and throughout this past year I, alongside my role as Marketing Officer for the society, have helped found and create our magazine Green&Gilded. Throughout this process, I have also been a co-editor for the magazine, giving me hands-on experience and insight as to how the magazine is run. I believe this experienced paired with my role as Marketing Officer has given me the tools to effectively assist in the running and promotion of the magazine, making me a great candidate. I am also incredibly passionate about the magazine itself, and I believe there are so many more stories that still deserve to be told; I will do my best to help them be heard.

Hi!
I've been part of Green & Gilded since our beautiful magazine was introduced. Green & Gilded has given many writers a voice to express their creativity. It can be difficult for students to get into student magazines, but we hope that they know that Green & Gilded is for everyone.
Since we are a new magazine, I have always gone above and beyond to ensure Green & Gilded is seen. (If you saw someone texting on your gc about G&G opportunities or doing street interviews for G&G - yes, that was me) And I would absolutely love to do it all over again, simply because I love being an editor at our precious magazine and the lovely G&G community. I have been in editorial positions before and always ensure that the writers are appreciated. I would ensure the writers feel safe expressing their work and continue to create an environment where their creativity is appreciated. I will work hard to increase the reach of our magazine, especially being involved with our new social media. I will sincerely dedicate my time and efforts because Green & Gilded deserves nothing less!
I have enjoyed and learnt from working with our talented team, and we have many exciting ideas for the future. I would love to continue to be a part of it. Simply put, I care about Green&Gilded and the people of our community.
Ps “All measure, and all language, I should pass,
Should I tell what a miracle she was.”
(My love for G&G, and yes, I will stop quoting John Donne if you vote for me)
Words have always been my medium—how I make sense of the world and shape ideas into something that lingers. This year, as a journalist for Green&Gilded, I’ve loved being part of that creative process, turning language into something meaningful. Now, I want to help lead the magazine into its next chapter.
I have experience both leading and learning from editorial teams, having been Editor-in-Chief of my high school magazine, where I worked closely with writers to curate thoughtful content. Last summer at The Washington Post, I gained deeper insight into storytelling and the importance of fostering diverse perspectives. These experiences have sharpened my ability to collaborate, edit, and create a publication that resonates.
If selected, I would expand Green&Gilded’s reach, introducing fresh themes while exploring digital enhancements to bring our publication to life in new ways. More than anything, I believe a great magazine is built on conversation—between writers, editors, and the world beyond the page. I would listen attentively to my team, ensuring every voice is heard, every idea considered, and every piece given the care it deserves.
Green&Gilded is more than a collection of articles; it is an archive of thought, creativity, and language. I want it to be a space where words are not just written but felt, capturing the pulse of the English Society and turning it into something lasting. I would love the opportunity to bring my passion, experience, and vision to this role.

As a physics student, I spend most of my time wrangling equations and numbers, so much so that encountering even a single complete sentence in my academics feels like a rare and wondrous anomaly. So naturally, part of the reason I'm applying for the role of editor of this magazine is to attempt to preserve my sanity and prevent a gradual descent into numerical psychosis. But beyond self-preservation, my motives are defined by my adoration of contemporary English literature, my love for punchy prose, and a need to find a more socially acceptable outlet for my sharp-witted criticism. Plus, I enjoy the ruthless precision of a good edit—for us STEM folks, I liken it to a peer review but for literature, just with fewer integrals and more Oxford commas.
Also, I’ve been waiting for the perfect excuse to wear a pin a friend once gifted me that reads “I am silently correcting your grammar.” Call it a uniform ;)
