Welcome to the English Society! All courses are welcome.

An award-winning society at UCL, we strive to create an environment that celebrates the expressiveness and diversity of the English language.

Some events to look forward to in the upcoming year include:

Bimonthly SOCIALS: Go to literary festivals, tours, and the occasional tea party with us! (Of course, we also snuggle in for cosy movie screenings.)
Bimonthly WORKSHOPS: Listen to inspiring speakers to teach you how to improve all sorts of writing skill sets, from screenwriting to journalism! We also organise alumni networking events to support students interested in English on their career paths.
Termly BOOK SALES to quench your hunger for new books (and save your wallet by buying reading list texts from students 2nd hand!)
Our traditional SUMMER BALL to be held in late May!

Since Autumn 2024, we also now have a literary magazine titled Green & Gilded which blends our trademark colour scheme with the idea of shedding light on literary topics and tensions deemed irrelevant. Follow our magazine's instagram page for further updates!
