Savani Sawaikar

I am standing for the role of Treasurer because I am passionate about finding the best ways to do good and exploring options that help us make the most positive impact on society.

After doing the intro fellowship, going to EAG and attending a few retreats, my understanding of the frameworks required to effectively manage huge challenges has significantly broadened and I’ve gained new insight into existential risk. Moreover, being part of a society made up of curious people with common goals has been incredibly rewarding.

In the future, I would like to give our members a similar experience and believe that my experience in coordinating events,  analytical and organisational skills would make me a good candidate for this role.

I look forward to collaborating with the rest of the committee and come up with exciting new additions whilst continuing to foster an inclusive environment for all our members.

Jai Vasandani

If you had donated £1,000 to the Against Malaria Foundation in the early 2000s, you could have provided 500 life-saving mosquito nets, potentially preventing dozens of child deaths. Wise investments pay off, and- through my 3-pillar strategy below- I hope you see that voting for me is one of them.

  1. Build on the Arete fellowship
As an Arete fellow myself, I find that the program is one of the most impactful ways to introduce students to EA, but we can do more to enhance its reach and effectiveness. I will introduce advanced workshops and speaker sessions for alumni of the fellowship, allowing them to dive deeper into areas like AI safety, global health, and effective giving.
  2. Expand EA Outreach
I hope to expand social events, discussion groups, and joint initiatives with other London-based EA societies to connect our members with the broader EA network. I will also introduce project-based initiatives, where members work on tangible impact-driven projects.
  3. Expand career-focused EA initiatives
I will implement career-focused initiatives to help members translate EA principles into real-world impact. This would mean forging partnerships with EA-aligned organizations to provide internships, research opportunities, and career mentorship. By doing so, we will ensure that members leave UCL ready to make a difference.

To make this possible, your vote is crucial. Together, let’s make UCL EA the best it can be. I value your support.
