Abhiraj Dhillon

I am excited to run for Welfare Officer of  UCL’s Economics and Finance Society. University life, especially within a demanding field like finance, can be stressful, and I want to ensure that every member feels supported, valued, and empowered to succeed.

If elected, I will prioritise student well-being by creating a supportive and inclusive environment. I will organise initiatives such as study support groups and well-being workshops when needed to help members manage academic pressures while fostering a strong sense of community. Additionally, I will work to ensure that all society events are accessible and inclusive, so every student feels welcome.

Mental health is just as important as academic success. I will promote resources available to students and encourage open conversations about stress management and work-life balance. By collaborating with the committee, I will ensure that welfare remains at the heart of the society’s activities.

Together, we can create a society that not only helps members grow professionally but also supports them personally. I would love the opportunity to contribute to this mission and make a real difference.

Yashita Maindwal

I am standing for the role of Welfare Officer because I am passionate about supporting the well-being of students within the economics and finance society. With the pressures of academic life and extracurricular commitments, mental health and welfare are often overlooked, and I want to be the person who ensures that members feel heard, supported, and valued. I aim to create an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive, whether through organizing welfare initiatives, providing resources, or simply being a point of contact for those in need. I believe my empathy, communication skills, and dedication to making a positive impact will allow me to effectively advocate for the welfare of all society members.

Dorian Erlic

Hello EFS members.

I’m Dorian Erlic, a third year Theoretical Physics student, running for the position of your Welfare Officer! Having been on the EFS committee for 2 years and with my current position as the Director of Alumni Relations, I have a great deal of experience in helping EFS achieve its goals. One of the largest goals being that each student feels welcome and comfortable at events I have hosted. This includes our networking event which helped to connect EFS members to our highly achieving Alumni.

I have also spent a lot of time closely working with the current President and other committee members, gaining crucial insight into the inner workings of our society. Therefore, I believe I am the best fit for the role of welfare officer, as I know what aspects of the society need improving on to make UCL’s largest society a networking hub open to all.

As your Welfare Officer,

  • Expansion - Increase the number of socials compared to last year so that EFS can become a closer and more enjoyable society for all our members.
  • Community - I will create a friendly environment where EFS members can connect and share their experiences, allowing them to learn more about their common passion while also helping to increase their career opportunities.
  • Inclusivity - It will be my top priority for each one of you to feel comfortable at our talks and socials, since above all I know the importance of a safe, open and inclusive environment.

Thank you for your time and thoughtful consideration.

Sabrina Hart

Hi everyone! My name is Sabrina Hart, and in the 2025/2026 academic year, I will be a third year in the classics program. I joined the Economics & Finance Society this year, hoping to gain experience in a variety of financial areas. I am in a course that doesn’t traditionally lead to finance, so I truly appreciated how welcoming the society was, and the accessibility of events. Pursuing finance roles, internships, and jobs can often feel incredibly stressful and competitive, and I immediately felt supported and welcomed by everyone in our society. This is why it is so important to me to maintain and improve upon the society’s atmosphere and wellness resources.

I was the Welfare Officer for the In Aid of UNICEF Society this past academic year, and loved connecting with members and creating spaces where everyone felt safe to celebrate their success and speak about things that might be troubling to them. I will use and build upon this experience in my role as Welfare Officer for the Economics & Finance Society, creating wellness events such as colouring evenings, wellness check-ins, and cafe trips. I promise to be a person with whom you can share any concerns you have, whether inside the society or about university life in general, with confidentiality. We are so lucky to have a society filled with so much opportunity, and I can’t wait to create an environment where we all feel supported and appreciated.

Sarthak Mehra

I’m standing for Economic and Finance Society Welfare Officer because I believe in creating a supportive and inclusive environment where every member feels valued and empowered. With my background in economics, finance, and leadership roles, I understand the unique challenges students face. I’ll prioritise mental health, foster a sense of community, and ensure everyone has access to the resources they need to thrive. Let’s build a society where we grow together, both academically and personally, because your well-being is just as important as your success.

Alesha Jaswal

Hi! I’m Alesha Jaswal, and I’m excited to apply for the role of Welfare Officer at EFS. Economics and Finance can be demanding fields, and while EFS provides fantastic career opportunities, I want to ensure every student also feels supported, connected, and empowered. My focus is on expanding mentorship, career support, and community engagement to make EFS an even more inclusive and welcoming society.

My Focus: Expanding Mentorship & Support

  • Scaling Up the Mentorship Programme – I want to increase the size of the programme so that more first- and second-year students can receive personalised guidance for Spring Week and summer internship applications. By bringing in more mentors, we can reduce mentee-to-mentor ratios, ensuring tailored support for career planning, and professional development.
  • Spring Week & Careers Support – I propose running drop-in sessions where students can informally ask for help with CVs, cover letters, and interviews. These sessions will complement existing events by providing a relaxed, accessible way for students to get practical advice from experienced members.
  • Strengthening Community & Wellbeing – EFS should be a space where students build friendships, not just professional networks. I’ll focus on organising more mentee-mentor socials and peer support groups to create stronger connections, ensuring every member feels included and supported.

Thank you for your time and consideration!

Aiesha Ahmed

Hi I'm Aiesha and I'm running for Welfare Officer

Having attended many events and fireside chats organised by EFS, I’ve seen how valuable they are in helping students apply their knowledge to secure career opportunities. These experiences have been key in shaping my career path, and now I’m eager to give back by helping incoming first years navigate their own journeys. I would love to mentor younger students, providing them with the guidance and insights I wish I had at their stage, especially when it comes to Spring Week and internship applications - having received 5+ offers myself from firms including Deutsche Bank, D.E. Shaw and Deloitte, I’m well-positioned to share practical advice to help others succeed.

What I will bring:

  • A Friendly Face: I want to create a welcoming environment where students feel comfortable reaching out for advice and support.
  • More Inter-Uni events: We all love networking! I’ll work to organise more collaborative events with other universities, giving members the chance to build connections.
  • More Engaging Events: Sometimes just listening to speakers can be boring - from bar socials to games nights and themed events, I’ll make sure there’s a good mix of professional and social activities to keep things exciting.
  • Econ/Finance Ball: I want to make the Econ Ball the highlight of the year - better than Law Ball bc they have way too much fun there

Thanks for reading <3
