Being part of DanceSoc for the past two years has deepened my passion for dance through attending classes and connecting with people. As an academic representative last year, I developed strong organizational and communication skills. Additionally, my three years of coaching at summer camps have enhanced my leadership and problem-solving abilities, as working with children and teenagers often requires patience, adaptability, and fast thinking.
Through internships in my home country, Turkey and abroad, I’ve enhanced my communication skills, learning to express ideas clearly and professionally, which I believe is an essential quality for leadership. As an international student, I’ve also developed budgeting skills and found creative ways to earn, such as tutoring in French. Completing a Foundation Year further strengthened my time management, helping me balance academics with extracurriculars.
As treasurer, I envision bringing my organizational skills to create a smooth and efficient financial system and a friendly face. With over seven years of experience in various dance styles such as salsa, contemporary, commercial and folk, I’m thrilled about the idea of creating a whole new show by collaborating and sharing ideas.
Lst but not least, I am very excited to join the committee, be part of this incredible team and contribute to the society!

Dance isn't just movement - it's a rhythm that unites our diverse community. I'm running for Treasurer because I believe I can harness my organizational skills and passion for dance to ensure our society thrives. Submitting a comprehensive budget to the Students’ Union and collaborating with the finance team is a responsibility I take seriously. I aim to allocate resources wisely, ensuring we have the funding needed for classes, events, and special projects. I'll actively seek out and secure sponsorships, meet with potential partners, and ensure we honor our contracts throughout the year. These relationships can provide valuable resources, from funding to event support, enhancing what we can offer our members. Reflecting on my journey, running for Treasurer feels like a natural next step. It's a role that demands strong administrative skills, time management, leadership, and resilience - qualities I strive to embody. While there will undoubtedly be stressful moments, especially as a principal officer role, I'm confident that my dedication and enthusiasm will carry us through any challenges. Working closely with the entire committee is something I'm genuinely excited about. Collaborating with such an incredible group will not only make the workload enjoyable but also elevate what we can achieve together. Thank you for considering me for Treasurer. I'm thrilled at the possibility of serving and can't wait to see what we can achieve together!

From throwing myself back into dance as a Fresher's Show Choreographer to trying dance styles I have never touched before. This year with Dance Society was full of amazing experiences – experiences I want to recreate as Dance Society Treasurer. To many, the role of a Treasurer is about money management; however, the role involves more than counting money. To be a successful treasurer not only does it require budgeting skills, but equally important are organizational, communication and negotiation skills.
In my two consecutive years as my high school’s student government (SG) Treasurer, through careful planning and budgeting, our budget tripled. Organizing the budget requires farsightedness. Every year I return to the SG, my team and I will make a yearly plan based on our budget. With a clear plan, and years of competitive debate experience I was able to effectively communicate with the school, secure additional funding and negotiate with venues and manufacturers to secure the best deals.
If you are worried about my "bossing" skills, I have it covered with my experience as President of the SG. I had to chase down the school coordinators, set "fake" deadlines for grade representatives, and "fight" for manufacturers to deliver on time.
Not only do I possess the experience and the skills needed to be a successful Treasurer, I am also passionate about the society and am looking forward to working alongside the amazing team to keep the Dance Society running.
Vote Sylvia for Treasurer!

Hello, I'm Glenise and for the past 2 years, dance society has given me a space to express myself creatively and a community that inspires me to grow, both as a dancer and as a person. It has given me some of my best memories and I hope to give back in a way that will ensure the smooth running of the society and help enrich the experiences of all its members!!
The role of treasurer is one that requires good organisational skills, time management and accountability. Being a pharmacy student has equipped me with the understanding of the importance of accuracy and attention to detail, which are essential for managing the society's finances and carrying out administrative tasks. This year, I've balanced my studies alongside participating in multiple shows and 3 comps teams (including choreographing adv jazz <3). Thus, I know that effective planning and discipline go a long way.
Additionally, my interpersonal skills and past experience will be handy when it comes to producing Freshers' Show. Being co-dance captain in secondary school has exposed me to handling various tasks, such as leading rehearsals, purchasing costumes, and coordinating the running of a charity show. I am confident that these experiences will help me to fulfill my responsibilities, while also knowing when to seek support from my team and therefore collaborate effectively.
I would be honoured to have your support and if you're still here reading this, do consider voting for me to be your next treasurer :)
