Why I’m Running
Dance has shaped my life, and UCL Dance Society has given me an incredible community. I want to give back by ensuring every dancer feels supported, inspired, and excited to be part of it. As Resident Choreographer, I will make learning and performing fun, stress-free, and enriching for all.
My Experience
I have been dancing for 17+ years across a wide range of styles. For 7 years, I competed in American dance competitions and conventions, gaining exposure to diverse choreography, teaching, and training methods. In high school, I spent 3+ years teaching and choreographing for dancers of all ages, creating pieces in Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap, and Ballet for over six shows a year at my U.S. studio. At UCL, I’ve been part of the Comps Team for 2 years, choreographed Advanced Contemporary this year, and placed second at two comps. I also have experience in theater tech and can provide guidance on optimal lighting for shows. This experience has strengthened my ability to guide, support, and collaborate with dancers and choreographers alike.
My Vision
- Creative & Inclusive Choreography: Engaging committee pieces, finales, and warm-ups tailored to all dancers.
- Supporting Choreographers: Offering feedback, attending rehearsals, and helping their vision flourish through personalized support based on their needs..
-
Supporting Dancers: Ensuring the best audition and learning experiences for every piece by fostering a stress-free environment.
Vote Sami for Resident Choreographer!

Throughout school, I kept my passion for dance to myself, afraid to perform in front of my friends and family. Over time, dance helped me overcome my lack of confidence, breaking me out of my shell and reassuring me that my artistic visions are valuable no matter how much I doubt them. This position would allow me to support choreographers who feel the same way I did, guiding them in translating their ideas into pieces they are proud to showcase.
Devoting 10 years to competitive dance at international and national level, I understand the dedication required to drive choreography toward a goal. Competing with UCL, dancing in Freshers Show and Blooms and choreographing for Triple Bill, I am familiar with the creative process required for large-scale performances—managing dancers’ needs, fostering team spirit, and uniting diverse ideas. Having faced the pressure of choreographing under tight deadlines, I am more than ready to be an active listener and address concerns.
My training in ballet, jazz, contemporary, acro, tap, commercial, and Latin dance allows me to adapt to various choreographic styles, producing finales suited to a range of genres and providing constructive feedback. Having co-choreographed a production, competition items, and taught syllabus-based classes, I am used to collaborating, taking leadership, and sharing ideas respectfully. Being involved in dance society this year, I feel deeply connected to our community and am excited to contribute however I can!
