Leading Climate Action Society would be an incredible responsibility and privilege. As part of one of the world’s most prestigious universities, our initiatives have the potential to be highly impactful.
Climate action has been a passion of mine since secondary school where I joined Fridays for Future protests and pushed my school to improve sustainability. As Head of the Eco Committee, I coordinated initiatives through the School’s Eco Network and led successful campaigns to increase engagement within the school community. These experiences have developed my ability to organize events, plan action, and effectively communicate environmental issues.
At UCL, I have already worked directly with staff and executives to promote sustainability, attending the Education Zone, Union Executive, and Student Forums to discuss my ideas and advocate for CAS policies. This has allowed me to build connections with people in the Student Union and other societies, which will be valuable in pushing for green policies.
As President, I would create an inclusive space where all members can contribute their ideas. I would prioritize engagement across UCL through cross-society collaborations and organizing inter-university events to amplify our collective impact. I will lobby the university to adopt more ambitious initiatives, particularly in areas like food and accommodation. Through UCL, I would love to push for systemic change within our community and the wider society.
