Our branding has so much potential, and I’d love to take it to the next level! I recently designed and created a full collection for the UCL MODO fashion show, where I took pieces from initial concept to final garment – including designing, sourcing materials, pattern-cutting, and sewing. This experience has given me a strong understanding of how to bring creative ideas to life, which I’d love to apply to our merch next year.
Cheer merch should be something we’re all excited to wear – both at training and around campus! I want to ensure our kit is stylish, comfortable, and represents our team identity. Whether it’s refining our current designs or introducing new pieces, I’d love to create a collection that our members feel proud to wear. Let’s make next year’s merch the best (and cutest) yet!
Hi Lightning! I’m Serena, and I’m so excited to be running for uniform and merchandise secretary! As a dedicated member of Spark, I’ve been loving every moment with my teammates especially during showcases and comps, and I would love to give back to our incredible Lightning community. My goal is to make sure that every cheerleader not only performs their best but also looks and feels their best! With our beautiful uniform and amazing merch, I would love to contribute to our next season’s designs.
Firstly, as a person with good organisation skills, I will make sure every athlete has access to uniform by the start of comps and showcases. I will ensure a smooth ordering process and try my best to prevent any delays in orders. Secondly, I want to make sure we are inclusive such as providing second hand uniforms from alumni as well as ensuring that we accommodate cultural dress code requirements so that everyone feels comfortable and included. Thirdly, for our merchandise, I will provide high quality designs by finding the best suppliers, while also making sure that your opinions on the designs are also heard.
I believe that uniform and merch is an important part of enhancing team identity, and making us stand out from the crowd. I would love to design unique merch that is also affordable to make sure everyone feels a sense of belonging and hopefully wear it with pride! I am excited about the opportunity to serve our Lightning family and make us shine even brighter! ⚡️💜
The moment we received our uniforms was the first time I had some kind of inkling that I’d like to run for Kit and Merchandise Secretary, just because it was the first time I realised how good a gorgeous, well-fitting uniform, or any piece of clothing for that matter, could make a cheerleader feel. If elected, I hope to revamp and upgrade our merch, and achieve greater involvement from our team. I’d love to hear your ideas on what merch you’d like to have, and perhaps get ideas on what vibe you’d like our merch to have. With my eye for detail and good sense of aesthetics, I’m sure I’ll be able to design a cohesive set of merch, with a strong sense of theme and character, to strengthen the identity of our team and make our merch recognisable. I’d also like to strive for our merch to arrive as soon as possible, such that we can have our merch on us throughout the season, to show off our spirit at showcases and competitions. As for our kit, I’d like to make the process of ordering our kit and rectifying issues as streamlined as possible, and to make the process of trying on new uniforms more convenient and efficient, such as by using the time after tasters/tryouts to ensure every member who is keen on joining the club manages to try on their uniform. I have experience in these processes, and I look forward to using what I know and learning on the job to do the best I can in bringing our iconic merch and kit to you, so that we can show everyone what we’re proud to be a part of.
