Catherine Fang

I am a first-year psychology student eager to explore the subject beyond my course and apply what I am learning to real-world positive behaviour change, and I believe both the Behavioural Innovations Society and the Nudgeathon provide a unique opportunity to bridge theory and practice. I would love to take an active role in organising an event that encourages innovative, behaviourally informed solutions. I first discovered BIS through a seminar led by Dr. Sarah Ashcroft, where I was introduced to the power of applied behavioural science in decision-making, health, and financial well-being.  I found the event to be well-organised and insightful, and I would appreciate the opportunity to contribute by organising similarly impactful events.

I believe my experience in event organisation, communication, and leadership prepares me well for the role of Nudgeathon Director. I supported the organisation of a TEDxTalk event at my high school, managing marketing and promotion through posters and social media, coordinating with both student and professional guest speakers, and problem-solving during a live event with a large audience and a tight schedule. Furthermore, as Head Girl, I played a key role in organising and participating in a peer mentoring scheme, ensuring the proper delegation of student mentors, and conducting monthly progress reviews. I am excited about the possibility of bringing my skills to BIS and helping make the Nudgeathon a successful and impactful event.
