Asset Management Society: Treasurer

To answer this question shortly: I wish to bring my skills in budgeting, expense tracking and financial management to a society that I love. 

As the founder of a growing tuition company, I manage large sums of finances on a daily basis: whether a parent is paying tuition fees, cashing out a coupon, or requesting a refund for a trial lesson, I have the responsibility to ensure that in every transaction I make, the correct amount of money goes to my tutors, the parents and I. And then there's advertising, marketing, Ecommerce and website expenses, which I must calculate precisely and minimise in order to maximise profits. To make sure no mistakes are made, I keep a meticulous record every single financial transaction I make in this company in a database - all qualities essential for a Treasurer. 

During high school, my role as a student leader and treasurer in Project Privates further demonstrates my ability to manage funds responsibly for an organisation. Through this student-led initiative, we successfully organised various fundraising activities around the campus, from which we were able to raise thousands for the Movember Foundation: money which I was tasked to keep track of, manage, and allocate to donate to a few different causes, which further strengthened my ability to manage finances.

As a founder/CEO experienced in handling finances, as well as an offer holder for the Siemens Financial Services Summer Internship, I believe that I am the perfect candidate for this role.

UCLAM has been an integral part of my journey at UCL. From joining the committee as a First-Year Representative to serving as Welfare Officer in my second year, my time with the society has been filled with invaluable experiences and lasting memories.

This year, I had the privilege of leading the Bootcamp—a full-circle moment for me, as just a year ago, I was an eager participant, captivated by the knowledge being shared. Additionally, I helped organize speaker panels, including talks with Drew Gillanders, Head of International Equities at Citadel, and Andrew McCaffery, former CIO of Fidelity.

As Treasurer, I am committed to supporting the society’s growth while upholding its longstanding traditions. I intend to strategically allocate the budget to strengthen UCLAM’s social and professional initiatives — enhancing networking events, speaker engagements, and society socials to create more valuable opportunities for our members.

I look forward to continuing my journey with UCLAM and contributing to its success. Thank you for your support and belief in my vision.

As a candidate for Treasurer of the Asset Management Society, I bring a blend of rigorous financial expertise and hands-on experience in managing budgets across both academic and community settings. I have actively participated in many of our society's events, such as the finance bootcamp, poker social, and fireside chats by Drew Gillanders and Andrew McCaffery - events that have been personal highlights and have deepened my commitment to our society.

In addition to my involvement with our society, I currently serve as the treasurer for my church's youth group. In this role, I manage our finances with transparency and accountability, ensuring every penny is wisely allocated to support our community's initiatives. My experience extends to my previous role as Charities' Prefect, where I successfully organised and managed the finances for several charity events, demonstrating my ability to deliver impactful results while maintaining meticulous oversight.

These experiences have equipped me with the skills to implement efficient budgeting systems, provide regular financial updates, and develop innovative funding strategies. I am committed to clear communication and careful planning that enable our society to pursue ambitious goals and create meaningful experiences for all members.
