What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I always say UCL is a school for "cool nerds"- the mixture of our intelligence and hobbies is what makes us unique. If I'm elected as the activities and engagement officer, I'll make sure to represent our diverse hobbies by providing even more interactive events such as pop-ups in student spaces. I'll also reach out to different companies and contacts across London to introduce more research/volunteering opportunities which are not easily accessible for most of us, especially for first years. I also aim to promote budget-friendly activities in and outside of school in the weekly newsletter.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Having been involved as the president of many societies in high school (basketball, MUN, theater, gastronomy, film-making) I know how to organize a timeline of events or conferences for each club, which is a vital skill for this role in particular. I was also an honor board member responsible for organizing regular meetings for the efficiency of the school. But a key aspect is to also make the university experience fun- and that stems from the range of activities organized by school. I'll make sure to hear out any needs or demands by the students and incorporate them into our fun uni life.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I believe I represent students' voices with my life motto of balance- being organized and responsible, yet also knowing that these years of our lives are not going to come back. I like making little details stand out as well. So yes, I'll make sure to create career opportunities and fairs, but also will make sure to maximize your college experience by introducing fun daily activities like "street quiz for free coffee" :) I'll also try to tie the gap between different majors- uni life is independent but there are still so many faces we are yet to know!

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

1. I hope to improve communication channels, such as social media, newsletters, and campus promotions, to ensure that more students can access information about clubs, societies, and volunteering, boosting engagement and helping students develop beyond their studies.

2. I hope to work closely with society members, listen to their needs, and provide guidance to facilitate more diverse and high-quality events.

3. With UCL’s diverse student body, I want to create more intercultural initiatives, such as global networking events and cultural workshops, to build a more inclusive student community.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

At UCL, I have participated in the Chinese Students and Scholars Association and the K-pop Society. During my undergraduate studies, I served as a member of the Welfare and Mental Health Committee, head of publicity for the Taekwondo Club, and vice president of the Hip-Hop Dance Club, equipping me with the skills to provide effective support. I also participated in a volunteer program providing academic and psychological support for children undergoing chemotherapy. Additionally, I spent a semester as an exchange student in Korea, developing strong intercultural communication skills.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I major in Higher Education Studies and have extensive experience in student organizations, societies, and volunteer work, which has helped me understand student needs and offer effective support. With strong organizational and communication skills, I can engage inclusively with students from diverse backgrounds. I am also passionate about UCL’s extracurricular activities, and my experience in leadership roles and event planning equips me to enhance student life, foster cultural exchange, and create valuable opportunities for students.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?
  • Increase funding for student activities – Allocate more money towards clubs & societies, and increase the provision of subsidised trips
  • More performance opportunities – Provide more hours for artsUCL and cultural performances
  • Greater and improved space for activities – Open up spaces on campus to be used for student activities and improve the current facilities
  • Break down barriers to engagement – Provide a bigger variety of opportunities for students to get involved with
  • Home for SU and TeamUCL– Lobby UCL to create distinct spaces for students to participate in activities at the heart of campus
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Some of my achievements this year as your Activities & Engagement Officer include:

  • Set up a ‘Taster Fund’ for clubs & societies to run more taster sessions
  • Organised the Intercultural Summit, providing a space for intercultural societies to collaborate
  • Expanded artsUCL, creating more pathways to get involved and increased allocated time for productions in the theatre
  • Made Varsity bigger and better, adding more events, with new society involvement
  • Expanded activity at East, helping societies run events there and introduced the Swimathon
  • Secured TeamUCL Gym refurb, improving facilities for students
Please summarise why students should vote for you.

As your current Activities & Engagement Officer I have worked hard to improve student life at UCL, gaining lots of experience working with clubs & societies. Although I have made some great progress, by making Varsity better, increasing inter-society collaboration, and engaging more students, there is still lots more to do. Speaking to students, I understand their key issues and being in the role I have already developed key relationships with UCL and SU staff, allowing me to tackle these easier.

I will provide more space, more funding, and more opportunities.
