Alex Fryer

I'm Alex, I'm running to be The 93% Club's President.

My experience at UCL changed so much for the better when I found the The 93% Club in my second year- so much so that I immediately ran for a committee position in the Term 1 By-Election. Now, using my previous experience as the club's Secretary, I am well placed to continue the fantastic work of this year's committee and ensure that the club continues to grow and improve.

Coming from a state school in rural Derbyshire, UCL can be overwhelming and a completely alien experience, but The 93% Club helped me to realise that there's a network of people just like me who are always willing to help.

As President, my first priority would be to make sure the society is open and welcoming for all, in order to grow our membership and expand the UCL state school network. Having organised events as the Society's Secretary, and taken part in The 93% Club's Elevate Civil Service Insight Programme for 6 months, I would bring all my skills and connections into providing the best opportunities to our members. I would also have a strong social focus, allowing fellow state schoolers to meet and socialise in a fun and welcoming environment.

I'm currently on my year abroad in Spain but have loved seeing what this year's committee has been up to… I even managed to join a society social in a quick trip home ;-)

Having a strong relationship with the current committee, I can work to ensure a smooth transition and build upon the work achieved this year!
