My yoga journey has been transformative, guiding me from moments of vulnerability to feelings of empowerment. Yoga has been a pathway to understanding myself on a deeper level, achieving balance, and existing in harmony with my environment.

As your social media manager this year, I’ve amplified our club’s voice online but have also learned how to lead a community and collaborate effectively within an active team. As president next year, I aim to apply these skills to help grow our club not only in numbers but also in the strength of the relationships between members and the depth of our practices together.

I envision a community where every member feels not just included but integral to our collective journey. A supportive environment is crucial for forming deeply rooted relationships, and I believe in the power of collaborative events and workshops to foster such connections. Introducing new opportunities to the club, such as collective meditation, is also part of my vision.

My commitment to running for president is driven by a desire to give back to the community that has supported me through times of need. Whether having a difficult day or navigating challenges in my personal life, the Yoga and Meditation Club has always been there for me. I aspire to nurture a space where we all can find balance.

With your support, I am passionate to lead our club towards a future where our practices and our connections with each other flourish.

Ava Cooney

Hey guys! I’m Ava, a current 2nd year Neuroscience student. You may recognise me as the outreach officer of yoga society and I’ll be running for president!! I’ve really enjoyed organising most of the collabs with other societies and charities this year, and of course attending the yoga classes. You may have seen me lose my balance a fair few times in the Saturday classes haha, but nonetheless I love it!

I’m running for president because I’m keen to continue the hard work that the yoga committee has put into the society, and I would love the opportunity to have a more active role and implement more of my ideas! I’m really passionate about making this society as social and fun as possible, and creating a more vibrant community.

As president, I would continue yoga families from last year, have more collabs with other societies, and host some more relaxed socials like brunches and picnics. I would also love to implement more special classes like acro-yoga and more meditation workshops to give members the opportunity to try something new! Finally, I would implement yoga classes of different levels to cater to students who regularly practise yoga and also those who have never tried yoga and would like to give it a go!

Thank you guys for reading, and I hope you will vote for me !! 🙂
