Hannah James

Having served as the Events Coordinator of Enactus UCL for 2023-24, I've gained invaluable insights into the financial dynamics and needs of our society and our individual projects. I am standing for Treasurer as I strive to build upon the work of our previous Treasurer and ensure that financial reporting is honest and transparent, our income and expenditure records are accurate and up-to-date, and that our financial resources are allocated efficiently and fairly between all projects.

My experience in event coordination has taught me how to meticulously pay attention to details in the budget and come up with innovative cost-saving measures. As a student pursuing the Finance and Accounting minor, I am also well-versed in expense tracking, and financial reporting, skills which will help me deliver the responsibilities of Treasurer more efficiently.

Additionally, I am committed to exploring innovative fundraising strategies and revenue streams through collaborations, sponsorships, and innovative fundraising events to supplement our budget. This will ensure that the society, along with its social events and outreach projects, can continue to grow.

I am steadfast in my commitment to securing UCL Women In Finance’s financial well-being and growth through strategic thinking, open and effective collaboration with the Events team, and my analytical skills, and I hope I am considered for the role of Treasurer.

Zixuan Zhang

With a solid foundation in finance and a strong passion for encouraging women to join this dynamic sector, I want to maintain the financial health of our society and foster a diverse culture that develops professional skills and supports each member's ambitions.

My academic journey in economics and accounting, supplemented by extensive experiences in managing financial affairs in societies, has equipped me with a deep understanding of budget planning, managing cash flows and liquidity, and raising money. I am the founder of an organization, Gorilla Star, aiming to provide services to children in need. I recruited 200+ members and raised £2,200 through online promotion and merchandise fundraising in order to hold more events, which allowed me to gain many of the competencies necessary for a treasurer.

As Treasurer, I have multifaceted objectives. Firstly, I would ensure to grow our fund through prudent financial management and fundraising tactics, enabling us to hold additional workshops, networking events, and mentoring programs. In the new academic year, I also want to improve members' skills in finance and investment by holding simulation training and case challenges. Moreover, fostering strong relationships with sponsors and financial institutions will be a priority as it is crucial to expand our resources and opportunities. Above all, transparency and integrity will be the foundations of my tenure, and I commit to managing our society's finances with complete openness.

Oorvi Dabke

Hi everyone!

My name is Oorvi, I study Mathematics and I am currently a first-year representative for Women in Finance Society. From early on, WinF stood out to me as such a warm and approachable group of people with a unique focus on inclusion and diversity in finance which is so vital, and this motivated me to become more involved in contributing to our society's growth.

Being surrounded by like-minded, intelligent and strong women has been so inspiring and I hope to continue the legacy of this incredible society as Treasurer for the next year.

As Head Student of my secondary school, I developed a strong foundation in event organization, public speaking and managing time-sensitive responsibilities. As WinF FYR I have had the opportunity to help organise events such as our flagship “Share the Vision” conference, which has given me huge insight into the ins and outs of the society.

My vision for WinF includes –

-Greater collaboration with similar societies in London universities in order to expand on insight opportunities and networking

-Releasing a monthly newsletter with highlights from our society, summarising the events and opportunities available to members, as well as tips for internship applications and interviews

-Introducing skill-based workshops to help build the soft skills that are essential to have in the corporate world

-Running financial literacy workshops for people who have little to no knowledge of finance and are keen to increase their general awareness

Ishanvi Arora

My involvement as a first-year representative, welfare officer and mentor in the women in finance society over the last 2 years has deepened my interest and passion to contribute to this society. I plan to make changes in the committee's current work. I hope to use our foundation and enhance it to ensure the Women In Finance Society is the place for any girl looking for a career in finance. I also aim to increase the socials we host to ensure that all members get adequate chances to network and meet like-minded individuals.

In an already male-dominated industry, it is important to empower each other and this society is a start in the right direction.

Here's why you should vote for me:

1. Elevating Our Society: I'll enhance our foundation to make our society the top choice for finance careers.

2. Empowering Your Success: I'll provide resources and support to help you thrive in finance.

3. Expanding Networking: More social events mean more chances to connect with others in the field.

4. Your Voice Matters: I'll advocate for ensuring our society meets your needs.

Together, let's make our investment society the best it can be.

I appreciate your support.

Sabrina Song

Hi everyone! I’m Sabrina, a first year BSc Statistics, Economics and Finance student, running to be the Treasure for WinF next year.

As my High School Student Council’s Vice President, head of various service committees, and most importantly, a passionate member of WinF and regular attendee of our events, I believe I can thrive in this role. My experiences include working closely with treasures and overseeing financial matters, sharpening my knowledge in Excel and accounting, completing online courses in the foundations of finance, and striving for leadership positions in other UCL societies. I am confident in my ability to strengthen WinF’s financial backbone.

As Treasure, I will act to enforce the following agenda:

  • Consolidate funds and aim towards a balanced budget through promoting responsible spending and seeking for additional funding through sponsorships.
  • Utilise our relationship with Guild and other associated societies to efficiently use the society’s financial resources.
  • Broaden our membership base to introduce new cash flow.
  • Enhance member experience through appropriate budgeting and maintaining WinF’s financial health so that we are able to present more, high quality events to provide you with a truly immersive experience.

By voting for me, I will act with your interests in mind so WinF can further support your career endeavours!

Sophia Engelen

Hey everyone, I’m Sophia and I hope to be your treasurer next year! As treasurer I aim to increase funding for our society by furthering relationships with alumni and running more fundraisers.

I am very organized, detail-oriented, and in high school was on committee in six societies, including being treasurer of two, so I have extensive experience managing funds.

As treasurer I would further develop our current programs and aim to implement the following new ideas:

  1. The creation of an investment fund – While there are other asset management funds at UCL, they are inaccessible and hard to join. This one will be run by a committee, but ALL members will have the opportunity to contribute and learn how to create stock pitches to prepare themselves for finance interviews. I will secure initial funds by working with alumni and creating fundraising events, then it will be up to us to grow it!
  2. Weekly Socials to meet other members – Often socials in finance societies are referred to as “networking” events, yet I’ve noticed this makes them feel intimidating to attend. So, I propose we host weekly events (pub nights, brunches etc.) for members to meet each other. There you will have the opportunity to discuss recent news, the markets, or simply catch up with friends!

I love the mission of this society and hope to contribute to it by serving as your treasurer next year. I want to ensure everyone’s ideas are heard, so please feel free to contact me at [email protected]
