Alexander Tomkinson

Hi all,

My name is Alex, and I'm currently in my penultimate year doing Politics and Economics. I'd like to consider myself as a friendly, outgoing and passionate individual, always happy to help those around me with whatever situation they find themselves in.

I'm keen to run for this role since I care about this club and I want to play a larger role in the responsibilities of its running. As external relations officer this past year, I have already accrued a network of contacts that will be crucial in developing the Relations portion of the job and the society. I will be able to bridge on the work I have already completed this past year on sponsorship, charity, merchandise, and other areas of our network as I look to develop our relations with current and new external partners. Furthermore, I deeply care about the welfare of our society and our members. I will look to incorporate this into my work as VP and ensure it remains a priority for us as a society.

Finally, I want to run for committee again since I have developed some of my closest friends through this club. I really enjoyed the family aspect of our team this past year, and I would love to keep this going into my final year at university. I believe collaboration is at the heart of our society's success, and as VP, I would look to keep up this notion of teamwork and supporting all committee members with their tasks.

Peace and love,

Alex

Emily Hannan

Being on committee last year was one of the best parts of my university life so far, which is why I want to run for Vice President. I gained so much experience and love for the club from being ski captain last year, that I wanted to be able to branch out and have the opportunity to do more for the society, as a whole.

I believe that my organisational and teamwork skills will come in very handy for the society, when working alongside the rest of committee and helping out the president. I also believe in making the society as friendly and welcoming as possible. While also being a space for people to come to when they need to get away from the stress of deadlines and exams.

My aims for next year are to: Increase our fundraising events for our charities throughout the year. Have more non-drinking focused socials - for people to get to know each other in a chilled and happy environment and also have a social calendar for the entire year. Get some new sponsorships to increase the benefits for the society and its members. Look at getting some new merch for our ski, board and freestyle teams. Make a big push into it being a more beginner friendly society. Also, organise fitness sessions throughout the year to help and improve the standard of our incredible teams.

In conclusion, I am very dedicated to the club, which was proven this year, by coming to every single training and competition even when I was unable to ski. I hope I will have the opportunity to put my ideas into action.

Martina Bernacchi

Hey everyone!

My name is Martina, and I'm a second year History and Politics of the Americas student from Argentina.

I'd love to be your Vice President next year for a number of reasons:

  • Firstly, as someone who's moved around a lot, I understand just how daunting new environments can be. This is why I will strive to create an incredibly welcoming, inclusive, and tight-knit community by facilitating connection between all members through existing and new welfare events (I love a brunch or a picnic tbh), and hopefully collaboration with social secretaries.
  • Also, charities!! I already have a massive interest in the VCSE sector, and have my own work with a few non-profits planned over the summer. This would be a great step towards finding and maintaining relationships with charities and potential sponsorships.

I'm very excited to speak on all of this and much more at the AGM, and keep improving Snowsports with all of you :)

Sera Kuseyrioglu

Hey everyone I'm Sera,

Snowsports was one of the best parts of my first year, which is why I want to join the committee. The multiple eyebrow slits I've had throughout the past couple of months probably show this clearly.

I believe I would suit the role since being VP requires working with multiple other committee members and communicating clearly which is a strong suit of mine. My focus as your Welfare Officer will be ensuring our club remains a safe and welcoming space and an environment where you feel comfortable.

If I am elected I will:

1-  Hold a wellness day every couple of weeks dedicated to yoga, meditation, music therapy, animal therapy (eg. dog cafes) etc. The activities/events will be based on what you want rather than what I think you want, so I will collect requests through a form.

2- Expand volunteering opportunities by leveraging my current engagement with an NGO, which can create a bonding experience within the society while helping build our CVs.

3- If wanted, organise a snowsports podcast featuring club members sharing their stories, well-being tips to create fun advertisement for the society while having an outlet to talk on for members.

I'll be more than willing to attend welfare training to make sure our activities align with creating a safe and friendly environment. I believe I am an easy to approach person which will hopefully make everyone feel comfortable reaching out to me if they need support and need help resolving an issue.

Thanks :)
