Sikh Society: Interfaith Officer

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

My first year with the Sikh Society has been immensely rewarding, allowing me to be part of sangat and understand Sikhi on a deeper level. I'm driven by gratitude, and hope to contribute to the society that enriched my university life so that future students can have similar experiences.

Growing up in Singapore, a diverse city-state, has instilled in me a profound appreciation for racial harmony. Meaningful friendships across races and religions have given me a unique perspective on understanding and respecting different faiths.

As the first Sikh naval diver in the Singapore military, I've had the privilege of participating in interfaith dialogues. Sharing my experiences in these conversations alongside the chairman of the Sikh advisory board has equipped me well for the role of Interfaith Officer.

The role of interfaith officer is vital for fostering religious diversity beyond our Sikh Society, aligning with Sikh values of equality and the oneness of humanity. I aim to cultivate a deep appreciation and respect for other religions within our Sikh Society. Collaborating with other societies for sharing sessions is a key strategy, fostering dialogue and understanding to create an environment that embraces diversity and promotes unity.

I eagerly anticipate contributing significantly to Sikh Society events, working together to make it a beacon of personal growth, understanding, and friendship for the sangat.
