School of Slavonic and Eastern European Studies Society (SSEES): Vice President

Hi everyone ! My Name is Katie Taylor and I am a first year Politics, Sociology and Eastern European Studies student at SSEES. The SSEES department has become like a second home to me with its warm and diverse community and caring academics. I would sincerely love to give back to this amazing community which is why I would like to run for the position of Vice President.

Should I be chosen as Vice president of SSEES Society I can assure that I will uphold and develop partnerships with other societies and external institutions. My background as leader of my schools' History Society and Politics Society have properly equipped me with the management skills necessary to manage and execute our formal and informal events. This year I would like to develop SSEES society’s relationship with other societies and increase our collaborations to further stimulate outside interest into our department and simultaneously our region. This position would allow me to create frequent opportunities for SSEES students to engage with academics from our region and those who work in the SSEES area. As vice president I promise to uphold the high standard of communication amongst students and the department and ensure that their voices are heard.

Finally, you should vote for me as your Vice President as I can guarantee a plentiful supply of wine in the Masaryk Common room, lots of Disco Polo and Balkan pop at Mully’s and of course exciting events surrounding our beloved SSEES region.
