Hello everyone! I am a first year Mathematics with Economics student who is interested in the field of quantitative finance and hopefully your next president of the quant society.

I want to make the quant society a place for everyone, whether it be a member who is fully invested on being a quant or someone that recently gained interest in the quant field and unsure of where to start.

I promise to run more social events, where people can meet other like-minded individuals and form connections, as well as regular hackathons to increase overall engagement. However, I want to create more resources for members to use. For example, a spreadsheet of different quant internships and spring weeks would be beneficial, after all we joined this society to pursue a career in the field of quantitative finance.

Furthermore, I hope to collaboratively create a guide on quantitative finance, including the different roles and skills involved, and host coding bootcamps. This not only helps beginners familiarise themselves with the profession, but allows experienced members to demonstrate their knowledge within the field (Linkedin opportunity).

I believe that I would make a great candidate for president with my motivation and drive to succeed. I am determined to transform this society into a more engaging and active community, providing everyone with something worthwhile for their quant ambitions.

Thank you for reading my speech, feel free to contact me at [email protected] regarding any questions

Dear Members,

I am thrilled to announce my candidacy as your President of the UCL Quant Society.

With a vision for progress and a commitment to excellence, I plan to:

  1. Elevate Our Presence: I will enhance our society's visibility at university and within the finance community through strategic initiatives and effective communication strategies.
  2. Foster Connections: I will prioritise creating engaging programs and events to encourage collaboration, networking, and knowledge sharing among our members, building a vibrant and supportive community.
  3. Drive Impactful Initiatives: I will seek partnerships with professionals, academic institutions, and other societies to lead meaningful projects.

As your president, I would be committed to serving with integrity, dedication, and a drive for advancement.

Together, let's inspire, innovate, and create lasting change in the world of quantitative finance and beyond.

Feel free to reach out to me at [email protected] if you have any questions.

With your support, I'm excited to embark on this journey together; thank you for your consideration!

Warm regards,
David

Safwan Ahmed

I was first-year representative for Quant Society last year and a welfare officer this year so would probably be good for president. I have lots of ideas planned.

Paco Robles

I am honored to present myself as a candidate for the presidency in the quant society. With a background rooted in data science; studying mathematics and statistics, having completed the 6-month professional certificate on Data Science, and with experience as a data analyst. I bring to the table a unique blend of analytical acumen and visionary leadership.

After attending various conferences on algorithmic trading, like the CUATS’ (Cambridge University Algorithmic Trading Society) annual event, and speaking to the respective organizers, I believe I have the knowledge and the contacts to bring this society to life with new and exciting cross-events.

My vision for the Quant Society as president is to introduce regular workshops on developing trading strategies and implementing them with the help of future sponsors, networking events with industry professionals and aspiring quants from other universities, and fun socials where everyone can meet like-minded individuals.
