Hi Everyone,

Over the past year, I have been a diligent member of Pi; writing articles for both Online and Epiphany, as well as organising joints events in my capacity as Kinesis President. In an era where “Post-truths” aim to undermine our efforts as journalists, it is important to hold firm, supporting every piece of work our awesome team of writers, TV Crew and Editors make whilst they are at UCL. Whether it is a documentary or a written piece, I wish to provide a safe space for all to engage in their love for writing.

As President, my goals are clear. First, I want to continue developing Pi as a community by hosting regular drop-ins, meets and welfare sessions. Second, I want to increase the number of accessible events to all of our members. This will be through more sober events, wheelchair accessible and providing online links to our meetings and talks where possible. I’d love to see Pi as every student’s go-to choice for the latest campus gossip. Finally, I want to build up our engagement on campus and with other societies. As we head towards three important elections for our students, I want us to return to debates and bring the spark back. I want to continue to expand the subcommittees, introducing more roles across the society.

I would love to build off of the amazing work every committee member has led in the past year making Pi synonymous with media and wider SU community. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to me and I’ll be happy to help.

Zoe Dahse

I want to make UCL’s largest student journalism society a welcoming space, where any student can become involved. My commitment and passion for Pi Media is demonstrated by my experience as Social Media Officer and as a frequent writer. I know the ins and outs of the society, which makes me well placed to become President.

As President, there are four factors I want to focus on:

  • Improving the social aspect - Pi has a heavy online focus, and while there are weekly meetings and office hours, we need to improve our in-person support for members, and organise more socials
  • Aligning the three branches of Pi - Pi Online is currently at the centre of our output. PiTV could benefit from a partnership with FilmSoc, and Pi Magazine is open to change its format to a monthly physical newspaper in place of termly
  • Work with the Student Union, and hold them closer to account - Pi Media plays an important role in the discourse of their policies
  • Increase external engagement – through speakers and partnerships, and organise UCL and Pi alumni panels to give industry insights

Most importantly, I am open to any ideas – columns, podcasts…: I want to work together with our members to create the society they want. As a friendly and approachable face, I can successfully liaise between the society and the union.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me via email ([email protected]) or phone (+44 7710 004694). I’m looking forward to Pi Media’s future! :)
