Candidates

Tanvi Sattiraju

My name is Tanvi, and I'm a theoretical physics student. Since my 1st year, I've engaged with physics at UCL in various ways - attending guest talks, lectures, and helping out with the department PANDA day too. I would like to give back to the Physics Society by nominating myself as treasurer.

As a current committee member of the Physics Society, I have first-hand experience with how it runs, and a wealth of ideas to make the direction smoother. I have communicated frequently with the Student’s Union regarding society matters, and I am familiar and comfortable with their approval processes.

I am meticulous and used to society paperwork, which is essential for the administrative duties that come with the role of treasurer. I have a list of sponsors and funding sources that I have already begun contacting - I have a clear vision of how to allocate our money to make our events shine:

- Increasing budget for academic workshops and talks, inviting guest lecturers from other universities

- Working together with sponsors to promote careers in finance/tech

- Funding for external trips (research labs, academic conferences, etc.)

- Making Physics society merch affordable and excellent

If elected, I am looking forward to working with everyone on the committee to create a society that has a positive, widespread reach throughout the university.

Pranav Havalgi Nama

Hey there!

I'm a 2nd Year MSci Theoretical Physics throwing his name in the hat for the role of treasurer. I'm sure many of you have heard of me before, but if you haven't then worry not as you will find out now.

As a STEM student, it goes without saying that I'm good with numbers (it would be concerning if I was not). As such, I wish to talk about why you as a member can trust me with your club funds and the direction of the club in general.

Since joining uni, I have been big a part of the physics community here at UCL. I am now in my 2nd year as a P&A course rep, having been nominated in October 2022. Since then, I have helped bring a lot of positive change in the physics department which has been greatly appreciated not only by my peers but even the staff. Now I look to improving the non-departmental experience of fellow physics students and physics enthusiasts.

Adding to this; this year I have been served as president for one of the sports clubs here at UCL. This gave me the experience in not only handling a committee, but also the union. Safe to say that with me, there won’t be any issues.

In the end, it is you lovely folks who decide as to who gets this role, looking at my past experience here are UCL and otherwise, I can say with certainty that I am the guy for this position. I will make sure all the money in the society bank account is looked after and being put to good use, so that you as a fellow member have the best experience ever and enjoy being a physicist.

Archie Wilson

I am standing for the position of Treasurer of the Physics Society because I recognise the critical role that financial management plays in enabling the society to thrive and pursue its ambitious goals. My keen interest in making physics more accessible to all students drives my commitment to ensuring that our society's resources are managed efficiently and effectively. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the society's success by overseeing budget planning, funding allocation, and financial reporting, ensuring that every event and initiative is feasible and aligned with our mission to foster a deep appreciation for physics.

As an active member of the Physics Society, I am committed to its growth and enhancing its activities. My goal is to work collaboratively with other members of the society to organise events, workshops, and trips that enrich our academic community's engagement with physics. By maintaining transparency in financial matters and seeking innovative ways to maximise our resources, I aim to support activities that inspire curiosity, learning, and a passion for physics among our members and the broader student body.
