Candidates

Shanzey Ahmad

Having served in the committee for two consecutive years, I believe that I am well equipped with the skill set required to lead the society. I have previously proved my planning and leadership skills by managing a clothing business alongisde vaccination drives and badminton camps etc. In the past, I have been a multi tasker managing a tutoring job, UCL student ambassador, academics and societies. I have led the mathematics society in my school where I organized national events and trained students for international competitions.

I want to effectively create a joyful, inclusive society that holds my culture and traditions and becomes a new home for incoming students. The society brings the halwa puri from Old Lahore, biryani from Sindh and chai, a national favorite, all to UCL.

I led forefront organizational roles in events such as Junoon, Khushamadeed and Freshers Milan. As the First Year Rep and the Events officer, I developed communication, teamwork and problem solving skills which are all transferable to this role and to various aspects in life. Being the President of the Society, I will be able to effectively lead a supportive community of like minded individuals having a similar goal of upholding the culture of Pakistan.

As the President, I would focus more on giving tips and providing counseling sessions to freshies. I would also organize karaoke nights, baking and group events to bring everyone together and create an enjoyable and homely environment.

Muhammad Saad Salman

For those who are questioning the visibility of Pakistani culture amongst our vibrant desi community, the time to ignite change has arrived. As your future PakSoc president, I am determined to lead the way in embracing our identity, heritage and roots. Being a Y4 Medical student and current Paksoc Sports Officer, I believe I have the experience, knowledge and dedication to lead successfully. If elected, here is just a glimpse into the future:

  • Inter-university events – cultural gatherings, games night, sports competitions and many surprise activities to come!

  • Have you ever been told you are a coconut? Feeling out of touch with your mother tongue? – No problem, I got you. Under my leadership, I promise to deliver regular Urdu lessons catering to learners of all levels.

  • Annual Gala Dinner – addressing socio-economic issues in Pakistan, raising awareness for our charitable initiatives with honourable keynote speakers.

  • Improving societal connections – I aim to revamp Freshers' Week with new mentorship programs and interactive events, creating a safe and inclusive environment for all incoming students.

You probably understand by now – under my guidance there will be no shortage of biryani, laughter and good vibes. I trust that I have persuaded you to endorse my candidacy… Or at least convinced you to stick around for the free chai at our events. Let's make Paksoc the most fun you've had all year inshallah!
