Mair Eve Thomas

Hey everyone, I’m Mair and I’m on the 5’s. Being a part of UCNC has been such a highlight for me in my first year at UCL. The community this society brings together is unmatched and I’m so grateful to be surrounded by such amazing people! I really want to give back to the club and would love to take on responsibility and be part of the committee. Finance is an area I am particularly interested in and have previous experience with so I think I would make a great Treasurer for next year.
I’ve always been a bit of a perfectionist and despite it being a slight issue when doing my notes for Uni, I believe being organised and precise are important qualities for a Treasurer (especially when it comes to sufficient funding for the Netball tour;)).
Being a part of UCNC has been fantastic for so many reasons, but it is all down to the brilliant committee which has kept everything running smoothly. After speaking with our current Treasurer Anuli, I have a few ideas to work on. For example, removing the financial burden of paying umpires from the captains. I would do so by working closely with the SU and being open to new ideas/aspects that could be improved.
Overall, I would be so proud to be Treasurer, and your vote would mean so much to me. UCNC has given me so much and facilitated so many amazing friendships and I would love to give back to the club. I feel I have the key qualities to be a successful Treasurer would look forward to learning about all that comes with this role!

Eliza Lewis

I would love to be your treasurer as it would be an opportunity for me to apply my past skills and experience in managing finances and provide me with the ability to learn more about a field I am interested in working in in the future. Being treasurer is one of the most important organisational roles in the committee as alongside the president I would be a primary point of contact between the union and the members. This is why I would be perfect for the role as I am highly organised and have experience in this field.

I was the head of finance for an NGO named Tabitha which operated in Cambodia building houses for impoverished families as well as building hospitals and providing sustainable savings programs. I had to manage all money flows and liaise with the government due to strict international transfer laws to prevent money laundering. This was highly stressful and required high levels of organisation as if I were to mess up or input the wrong amount we would be under investigation by the government and thus be blocked temporarily from transferring monetary aid. Although netball may not be as pressing as these global issues the treasurer must be able to stay on top of things in terms of gaining sponsorship and grants to ensure that events are able to run smoothly.

I am enthusiastic and looking for a role that requires this high level of organisation and dedication. I hope that you can support my application and allow me to be your new treasurer.
