Rania Aboobakar

Hey everyone, I’m Rania – a first year sports and medical science student keen to contribute to the netball community.

Having played netball for the past 8 years has fostered an immense passion in me for the sport and I would love the opportunity to facilitate that in new and developing players by garnering a fun outlet of training and match-play. As development officer, my number one priority would be the satisfaction of social and TeamUCL members; ensuring everyone who joins is having a good time all the time.

My experience playing netball has equipped me with the ability to plan and execute optimized training sessions to develop crucial skills in netball whilst also making it fun, my aim is to adapt drills based on ability so every member is pushed to be the best player they can be whilst not overwhelming them.

I know that joining a new sport or coming back to one after a long time can be daunting and may discourage many from even trying, as development officer I would prioritize patience in training sessions and always ensure everyone feels comfortable in a nonjudgmental environment. As someone who loves to meet new people and try new activities, my goal is to create a close-knit community within social netball wherein members can enjoy weekly sessions with friends and also feel part of our social family.

As development officer, I would also be responsible for arranging teams for Team UCL. I will strive to spread more awareness of these teams and encourage those who are looking for more match play to join.
