Abbie Hall

Hi, my name is Abbie and I play for the 2s. Joining UCNC at the start of the year was perhaps the best decision I have made since starting university. Although everyone pretends to hate it, the first and second team fitness training on a Saturday morning is one of the many highlights of playing for the 2s netball team. I have a passion for fitness and sport and hence I think I would be well-suited to leading the fitness session on a Saturday as well as undertaking the other responsibilities of fitness secretary such as running the pre-season training.

In addition to loving sport and fitness I also have relevant experience, skills and qualifications which make me well-suited to the role of fitness secretary. I am a qualified athletics coach and netball umpire and over the past three years, I have delivered training sessions twice a week to children from the ages of 4 to 17. I was also responsible for planning these sessions and so I have a comprehensive understanding of how to plan a well-structured fitness session which is both intense as well as fun.

This aligns with my beliefs that sport should be accessible and fun for all since it has overwhelming physical, and mental benefits that no one should be excluded from accessing. This is why I would propose running additional social fitness sessions for the whole of the club. These would vary in style; cold-water plunges at Hampstead Heath, charity runs and park runs and watching Abby Graham running extended suicides, to ensure that there is something for everyone.

Overall,

Bronwen Smith

I am standing for Fitness sec as I believe I have positive experiences to bring to the role, and would be able to provide impactful training to first and second team to improve their games going into the 2024/25 season. Having played sports other than netball, I feel I would be able to tailor the sessions to netball, but also still fun and not too long! Furthermore, next year I would hope to provide training or fitness plans to other UCNC teams, should they wish, in order to help as many players as I could with their game play. I've made some really amazing friendships playing this year, and hope to not only build on these next year but also get closer with new players. I think this role is the perfect opportunity to do this and also help the teams bond in a way that would benefit their match play. Having experienced Abby's fitness sessions first hand this year I hope to maintain her high standards as of next year but without her very extended suicide runs! :)  I would love the opportunity to have this position within the ucnc committee as I think court training is only a factor, but fitness is also just as important. I know a lot of teams have made really good progress this year, I am proud of how far my team have come, and this position would help me to build on everyones progress next season!
