Hannah Walter

Hey everyone I'm Hannah, this year's treasurer of LSS and a second year Human Sciences student!

My experience as a member of the committee this year makes me a great potential president, and here's a brief overview of why you should vote for me…

What I've done this year as treasurer:

  • Worked closely with the president and committee to organise events such as pub crawls, quizzes and bowling!
  • Led the making of life sciences merch for our members (it should be available soon! Keep an eye out for updates)

What I've learnt:

  • LSS needs a serious rebrand…

What I'd do as president:

  • Make even more exciting merchandise (everyone should know you're in the coolest faculty at UCL)
  • Collaborate with the Bioscience Horizons journal, giving members the opportunity to publish in a peer-reviewed journal as a student
  • Arrange more career events such as life science consultancy projects and industry networking events
  • Hold monthly pub quizzes at Phineas where members can win exclusive merch and bragging rights!
  • Start up a monthly newsletter to share society updates and career opportunities with members

I would love the chance to implement my ideas and I'm committed to improving our society's academic and social presence!!

Sarah Taleb

My journey as a Biomedical Sciences student has been fueled by a deep passion for the life sciences, combined with my curiosity. As a dedicated member of the life science society, the more I engaged, the clearer it became that I wanted to contribute at a higher level, leading me to run for President. You can find me engaging with the latest research, tuning into podcasts, and immersing myself in reading, and beyond the academic sphere, I thoroughly enjoy hanging out with friends, baking, painting, playing the piano… As a president, that is exactly what I envision for this society; a perfect blend of relaxation and enjoyment with the pursuit of knowledge and networking opportunities. My knack for event planning is matched by my ability to think outside the box, ensuring our society not only thrives but shines uniquely here at UCL. To me, leadership is not about position, it's about fostering a culture of active listening, inclusivity, and empathy, qualities I’ve actively developed through volunteering, such as tutoring a 6-year-old in English. I firmly believe that our common interest in life science and diverse backgrounds can take us "to infinity and beyond". I can speak 4 languages and can lead with passion, creativity, and with a commitment to excellence. If you vote for me you are in for an academic year filled with fun social events from baking, to themed balls to academic talks. You will also have me as a trusting friend who will always be there to listen!
