Evie Weber

Hi everyone, my name is Evie and I’m running to be Collaborations Officer for the knitting society!! Like many others, I picked up knitting during lockdown a few years ago and fell very fast down the rabbit hole of this wonderful hobby.

KnitSoc has made me feel so welcome as a crafter, so I’d love to give back by taking on an active role in the Committee. Being a Collaborations Officer would be a great opportunity to meet fellow yarn lovers as well as to introduce so many more people to the joys of knitting and crochet! I’ve got a few societies in mind that KnitSoc could collaborate with such as the Arts Society, Coffee Society and Baking Society, to name a few. I also think it would be a great idea to invite Film Society members to our film screenings - this way we can be sure that at least some people will pay attention to the film whilst we count our stitches ;)

As Collaborations Officer, I would particularly look forward to coordinating with the Charity Officer, as I think it is really important to use our craft for good. UCL has so many brilliant volunteering organisations with which KnitSoc could work alongside.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, I’m hoping you will consider me for Collaborations Officer!

Newnew Rojnuckarin

I really like crocheting, especially for my friends and family. despite what some people may say, I think crocheting is so fun and cool. I would really love to plan many more fun collaborations with other societies as I really enjoyed crocheting folklore inspired granny squares with the Taylor swift society and crocheting blankets for cats with the cats society:)

Noel Buscher

I love knitting - and, since I've come to UCL, I have loved knitting society. In the future, I would love to see it grow! believe that, as an officer, I can help to diversify our collaborations with other societies and contribute to teaching new members.

Adrija Mazumdar

I would like to become the Collaborations Officer of the Knitting Society to contribute to its smooth running of it. I am very passionate about knitting, a hobby and skill that has been passed down by my grandmother to me. I really enjoyed the time spent at the society events, both knitting and meeting new people. I would like to ensure that this continues smoothly in the next year too. I have experience in the management of societies which I can bring to the table. In school, I developed good interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with a team by being a sub-editor and writer for the Enigma Science Magazine. Furthermore, I had to write and edit science articles within fixed deadlines so that they could be published. Therefore I have good time management and can make sure there are regular collaboration events in the knitting society.  As the vice-chair of Girls in STEM, I organised a conference event with women scientists. I have experience in organising collaboration events.
