Yumin Song

Hi everyone,

I would love to nominate myself for the position of social secretary for the UCL Kendo Club. I first started Kendo during my high school years when I was 16, and after a long break, I rejoined the training this academic year, rekindling my passion for this martial art!

Social secretary entails curating social media content and organising engaging social events, which are essential for fostering inclusivity and vibrancy in our club.

My aim is to enhance our club's connectivity by leveraging social media platforms effectively. Through compelling visuals and informative posts about Kendo, I want to engage our current members and attract new enthusiasts to our club.

I recognise that true camaraderie is built through shared experiences. Hence, I’ll be committed to organising a diverse range of social events, catering to the interests of all members. Whether it's Christmas/Halloween socials, joint practices, or cultural outings, my goal is to create opportunities for us to bond outside our regular training sessions. I'll ensure that all social events are welcoming to every member, irrespective of their background or experience level.

Drawing from my experience leading high school clubs, I'm eager to utilise my skills to highlight our club's achievements. As your social secretary, I’m ready to be dedicated to using social media to promote our endeavours and organise memorable events that unite us as a community.
Thank you for considering my nomination:)

Hi, I'm Helen and I'm running for Social Secretary. As a dedicated member of the Kendo Club this past year, I have felt welcomed by the warm and friendly atmosphere and hope to continue this as a member of the committee.

As Social Secretary my priorities would be to ensure there are ample events throughout the year, including those suitable for non-drinkers, as well as promoting the club by keeping socials well maintained and regularly updated. As someone who discovered the Kendo Club through social media, I would love to increase promotion to the wider UCL population so that more people are able to discover this sport! In the same vein, I hope to increase interactions with other sports societies both within and outside UCL to widen the scope of possible events and to strengthen the connection in the greater martial arts community.

I am confident that I will be able to make a meaningful contribution, and I hope to work with you all soon!
