I'm writINg to officially throw my stick into the ring for Vice Captain of our sensational UCLWHC 1st team. I adore the club and I feel so proud to be a part of the 1’s. Some may call it a cult, but from the second I walked into Lee Valley the team has become like family (even if that does make Simon my slightly dysfunctional father). UCLWHC has given me an incredible support network and lifelong friendships. I want to give back to its members by fostering a friendly, inclusive and fun team environment.

I've had an amazing experience this year due to the efforts of the seniors. Ally is such a kind and approachable member who has made me feel incredibly well integrated. I want to emulate this and I think I could fill her shoes as I genuinely want people to be the best version of themselves both on and off the pitch. I am sociable, committed and friendly, I want everyone to be valued in the team, and I think I would be successful at encouraging more people to trial and get involved. With experience as captain of my school 1st XI, I know that I can step up to the organisational, leadership and technical responsibilities of being Vice Captain. I’m excited about the prospect of working with the captain and would happily help with socials, formations, team sheets and organising preseason. All whilst listening to other people’s opinions and including everybody in decision making processes. I want to have an incredible season next year and I can't wait to share all of my ideas at AGM

I would like to go for vice cap of the 1s as I believe it requires different skills to the role of captain. Despite what it may seem like if you see me at Scala, I am actually quite chilled out and level- headed, therefore I think I can be a calming presence on the pitch. Since I’m a massive people pleaser, I can adapt to fill in whatever role the captain may need of me whether that may be organising admin or pres, or helping the team pick themselves up after a tough defeat (which is obviously rare for us).

Having talked to other members of the team despite our immensely successful season, I do believe there are some things that could be improved on, including our commitment to training and improving our fitness, more socials as a team, and getting rid of Simon, to name a few.

Speaking of socials, I think having a social leadership team is extremely important to the club, as ultimately, hockey is about having a good time with your friends. I am dedicated to integration within the club, especially between the women's teams and I have close friends in all of the other teams, and this is something which I think is super important to the team and the club.
