Dear GES members, the global economic transformation towards a green economy represents a critical time for us as students. My aim as VP is clear yet significant: to thoroughly comprehend this transition and to guide our integration within it through the following objectives:
- To broaden our society's grasp of the green economy and empower members. I aim to emphasise active engagement with its core principles through workshops and projects that foster leadership, innovation, and a deep understanding, positioning us as informed experts and leaders in sustainability.
- I plan to use my industry connections to forge strategic partnerships aligned with our values, enhancing our society's influence. This includes collaborating with companies of all sizes and sectors to highlight diverse green career opportunities through events.
- My goal is to significantly expand our outreach by collaborating with other societies and universities, aiming to establish our society as one of the most prominent at UCL.
My involvement in various societies has deepened my grasp of their operations, essential for guiding our society's internal collaboration. My industry experience and thorough understanding of the current transitional processes position me uniquely for this role. Equipped with extensive insights, I am fully dedicated to guiding our society towards its objectives.
I look forward to the opportunity to lead the Green Economy Society towards a bright future alongside you!

Hello everyone,
I am Serra Incekara, a second-year Environmental Geoscience student, and I am running for the Vice President position!
After my second year as the Green Business Forum Director in the GES, I have decided to continue developing this society. Helping with the forum’s organisation taught me outreach strategies, event budgeting, collaborations with other universities, and timeline management. I also had the pleasure to meet many entrepreneurs, with various backgrounds, who have all contributed to creating a greener future with their work.
With my event organisation experience, I have the necessary network and skills to apply to and improve this society in the next year. Here are some of the ideas I would like to execute:
- Focusing on gathering speakers from diverse professional backgrounds like ESG experts, environmental lawyers, CSOs, and start-up founders.
- Hosting a bigger Green Business Forum with high-profile speakers to network with.
- Sponsorships from brands or companies with big feats in sustainability.
- Planning case-study sessions analysing other companies’ sustainability strategies.
- Creating a mentorship scheme to help people with their applications to sustainability-focused roles (including summer internships and spring weeks).
These initiatives will provide members with networking opportunities and insight into the green economy sector.
Thank you for your time :) I hope to organise the greatest events for you guys next year!
