My experience in the Genetics Society this year has been incredibly rewarding, and I truly enjoy the engaging activities and informative events organized by the Genetics Society. Hence I am eager to take on a more active role in shaping its future.

Throughout my time as a leader in high school, I successfully founded and led a Culture Society, demonstrating my ability to plan and organize events, collaborate with team members, and communicate effectively with stakeholders. I planned and executed three major fundraising events and eventually exceeded the fundraising goal. Also, I collaborated with other members and successfully arranged an interschool business competition. I am well experienced with hospitality and possess skills such as communication, organization and event planning which makes me believe that I am an ideal fit for this role.

I am determined to serve our society with integrity and diligence. I am very excited to work with the other members of the Leadership Committee to arrange meaningful and informative events!

Renjia tang

I am very interested in Genetics, and I love to discuss it with other people with a passion for bioscience subject. I like asking questions and doing interviews, using a logical way to guide others to give specific and useful pieces of information. Also, I work in the AIESEC society as a team leader for the oGX team, which gives me some experience as an event manager and logistics. I arranged many different conferences and activities for different themes in high school, for example, international week, science fair, pathology for the HOSA study group etc. After all these experineces, I learned many planning skills and improved my communication skills as well. I'm looking forward to working with my team members to arrange more events and make them fun and useful.

Gayatri Kumar

Hello! :)

My name is Gayatri and I am a second-year BASc Arts and Sciences student with a major in Health and Environment. I believe the Genetics Society should be both a place to learn about genetics and to meet other students from different degree backgrounds who share a similar interest in this field–whether they want to pursue this field as a career or just learn a little bit about it.

As an Events Officer, I would focus on planning fun social events to get to know other future geneticists, coordinating events with other STEM societies, networking and speaker events where GenSoc members would get the opportunity to speak to academics and professionals in this field, and of course, carrying on the journal clubs. Ultimately, my aim is to ensure that the events are inclusive and enjoyable, providing opportunities for all members to engage with the society in whatever capacity they desire. Having been in the Genetics Society last year, I particularly enjoyed attending the Journal Club meetings as well as getting to know other students through social events, such as dinners, and games nights.

As an Events Officer, I would be keen to work with the committee to plan and execute events that interests the members. I am organised, thorough, and creative when planning logistics. Therefore, I would be excited to create impactful and memorable experiences for the GenSoc members alongside all of the committee members.
