Quynh An Nguyen Trieu

Hi, my name is Quynh An, and I’m a first year Biological Sciences student.

I’ve really enjoyed being a member of Genetics Society this year, and it’s been so incredible to be able to meet people, and hear from such interesting speakers. I’d love the chance to get further involved in the society by being part of the committee!

I think I would be well-suited for this role as I’m very hardworking and motivated. I’ve written many articles previously for an online magazine, so I’m very comfortable with structuring my writing and choosing interesting topics to write about. I’d love to help people write about topics that they’re passionate about, and make sure everyone feels like they’re able to contribute to the blog and have an enjoyable experience.

I've loved the field of genetics since I was young (before I even fully understood what it was), as I've always been really close to my aunt with Down's syndrome, which led me to intern in a research hospital for genetic diseases. This has made me really passionate about genetics, which is why I would love to contribute to Genetics Society within the committee.

Thanks for reading!!

Nirvan Marathe

As a past Associate Officer of the Genetics Society, I hope to increase my participation within this society and provide to it my skillsets in the fields of organisation, management and editing. My position as Managing Editor of Kinesis Life Sciences Magazine from 2022-23 serves as evidence of these capabilities, where I ran a team of 60+ writers, editors and artists per issue, culminating in 2 publications. I successfully managed this position with 3 other society positions that year, while also participating in various Genetics Society events, contributing several articles to the Genetics Society blog, and attending the European Society for Human Genetics Conference 2023 with the society as well. As an incoming final-year student on the MSci Genetics stream of Biological Sciences, this society is extremely relevant to my studies, future career interests and personal fascination, which lies more specifically in the field of the genetics of neurodegeneration. I hope you will consider me for this position, as I hope to give back to a society which has contributed significantly to my time at UCL, in a more significant way.
