The Secretary's role is important among the GenFem team, the creation of the weekly newsletter opens up a space for communication of not just information about the weekly meeting and key dates but other interesting news and signposting within our community. I believe that I am a good fit for this role as I am passionate about continuing and strengthening this dialogue, with knowledge from previous experience of constructing blogs, reports, school newspapers and newsletters, I would love the opportunity to have creative freedom for both writing and visual design. I believe our newsletter can also be a space for raising awareness of current affairs - perhaps a weekly roundup style format, with an opportunity for additional signposting to further information and connection to our GenFem Blog.

In addition to my main focus surrounding the newsletter, the opportunity to support and collaborate with other committee members would be a pleasure, I believe I am a strong team member and have key communication skills making me a good fit for the GenFem Committee and a representative of our larger GenFem family <3

Robyn Aaron

Hi, I'm Robyn! I am currently GenFem Social Media Manager and would love to be Secretary next year!

Through being on the GenFem Committee this year I have learnt loads about how the society functions, from the bureaucracy of organising events and fundraisers to the relationships we have with other UCL Societies. I think I would make an amazing Secretary because I have experience in the communications aspect of the job through being Social Media Manager this year. I believe that the communication you receive from the committee is central to building a happy, inclusive and welcoming community. So, I commit to being the happiest most inclusive and welcoming secretary ever!!

I'm really committed to all the issues and topics GenFem cares about and I hope that as Secretary I will get the chance to help organise more events that allow us to discuss and tackle these issues! I also want to set up an active feedback and input system that allows the members to become more easily involved in giving the committee ideas for events and letting us know what matters most to you.

As most of our current committee are leaving this year (😢) I think it is important to have some continuity so that we can start next year as smoothly as possible. Secretary is a role that would allow collaboration with all the new members of the committee and communication with our external connections to make sure we function as well as possible!

So, if that all sounds good please vote for me as Secretary!

Sarah Gu

As someone deeply passionate about combatting sexism and empowering individuals, I have loved attending the weekly discussion sessions. It's been amazing chatting with everyone and feeling GenFem's commitment to creating a safe space and promoting equality. I would love to join the committee to contribute to such a warm and welcoming community.

Effective communication is key. As the secretary, I will make sure to send out timely newsletters with a weekly wrap-up and announcements on upcoming events in a clear and engaging manner, so everyone is kept in the loop. It is important for me to create a sense of inclusivity and ensure all members feel welcome and valued. I love designing and formatting newsletters (from the font to emojis and colour scheme), and I think it would be nice to add a little fun fact (from historical figures to pop culture) at the end of the newsletters!

I also understand the importance of managing administrative tasks with precision and efficiency. I work with charities to coordinate collaboration with university students, and I have organised language workshops to teach kids Chinese, which helped me realise my passion for coordinating event logistics. I thrive in collaborative environments and am eager to work closely with other lovely committee members to build a supportive environment and offer the best possible events to our members :))
