Sneha Acharya

Hi!

I am Sneha and am a first year student doing a degree in Physics, Maths and Stats. I’ve been passionate about promoting design thinking about young adults ever since I attended my first hackathon a few years back where we designed a sustainable heating structure for rural mountainous homes in Nepal. It was a mind-blowing roller coaster journey of applying scientific and engineering principles to address global challenges.

Since then, I have participated and won in many international design thinking hackathons and projects. Sometimes, you will find me designing green-tech solutions while sometimes I am helping in a flood-drainage mechanism for Texas.  I have also been lucky to present my team’s solutions in the International Conference for Sustainable Development.

Although I've been participating in these projects for 4 years, how different people use the process of design thinking and engineering to come up with absolutely amazing ideas never fails to amuse me. I want to bring this spirit of mixing our creativity and design thinking to UCL students, so I am applying for this role of Design Engineering Manager.

Together, we will help the society think of new ways to build bridges around the world and also have mini creative engineering sprints throughout the year!
