Dance Society: Welfare and Volunteering Officer

Hi everyone :D I’m Yuna, an interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences major with a focus on Psychology and Biology.

Dance Society has helped me through so much as it allows me to express myself wholeheartedly in a safe space. Now, with the empowering impact it's had on me, I am committed to helping people feel a sense of belonging and I am passionate about giving back to the society in the ways Dance Soc has supported me through thick and thin.

Heart-to-heart deep conversations inspire and move me most — I am often told by my peers that I make them feel comfortable not only with themselves but also with opening up in ways that deepen our connection. Feeling connected in relationships and vulnerability are among my greatest values, and I am confident that I can bring these strengths to the role of Welfare and Volunteering Officer.

It was such a healing experience volunteering and teaching dance to seniors in the Holborn Community Centre with Dance Soc; I am eager to organise further volunteering projects to make dance enjoyable for all skill levels and backgrounds. My volunteering experience continues back home, where I volunteer in an orphanage caring for and teaching toddlers and youth. In my academic life, I am interested in pursuing dance therapy to help individuals improve their well-being through creative self-expression.
