Bhangra Society: Treasurer

Hi everyone, I'm Saran and I study Economics! From a young age I have always loved Bhangra, from doing it at weddings and parties to recently having the opportunity to perform at Rangeela which was an amazing experience. Bhangra combines my love for Punjabi music and dancing and lets me feel even more connected to punjabi culture. 

Being part of the Bhangra team and an FYR has given me the experience to take on a leadership role on the core committee and I feel I would be the ideal candidate for treasurer. My background in Economics means I am confident handling finances and budgeting and am dedicated to organising great events to build team spirit. 

Witnessing my progress from the start of the year to watching our Rangeela performance was extremely rewarding and I would love to be able to see others achieve the same and develop a love for Bhangra!

My name is Anhar and I am running to be Treasurer of your Bhangra Society.

Personally, Bhangra has been one of the best experiences (if not the best) during my first year at UCL. Being a part of the society has allowed me to make friends and spending time with them whether it be training, socials, performing has been extremely fun and I wish for everyone to be able to be a part of Bhangra society at UCL.

Having the opportunity to become treasurer of your Bhangra society, some of the steps I would like to take are:

Ø  Make sure that the funds of the society are managed efficiently

Ø  Work closely with the committee

Ø  Work closely with correct people to regulate societies budget

Ø  Get more sponsors for Bhangra society

I feel I am suitable for this role as I have good communication skills which will be useful when working with sponsors. Moreover, I am trustworthy and work well in a team, which I believe is essential when working with other people as it will help the committee to run smoothly.

Ultimately, I just want everyone to be a part of UCL Bhangra society and not miss out on this amazing experience!
