Hi Im Jane Jane! 🏀💜

Liked what you saw on our instagram >.< ? 🌟 As Social Media Officer this year, I have had the privilege of dedicating myself to enhancing our social media presence and fostering engagement through our instagram account.

This experience plus having been in this club for two years has instilled in me a genuine care and profound appreciation for the well-being of each member of our basketball community, and this growth in perspective has led me to pursue the position of Welfare Officer.

Throughout my time at UCLWB, I have observed the positive impact a supportive environment can have on team dynamics. I am eager to contribute to this positive atmosphere where every player feels heard, valued, and supported both on and off the court. Whether it's lending an ear, offering a helping hand, or just being a friendly face (apparently i'm pretty good at this 😧), I'm committed to ensuring that every member knows there's someone to turn to when needed 😊.

(Phone got stolen, recent pics were no backed up 😖 , throwback to when I had pink highlights 💀)

Maria Kliuchnikova

Hey! For those who don't know me too well, my name is Maria, I'm a player for UCLWB's 2nd team (and additionally a student in Politics and Sociology), and I'm hoping to be your welfare officer next year!

As somebody who struggles with anxiety, I know what it is like to feel stressed, overwhelmed, self-critical and all sorts of other detrimental emotions during training or before/during games - I've felt that a lot myself. Balancing school with playing a competitive sport can also be a struggle. Helping other players overcome this is, in my opinion, crucial, as such difficulties can very negatively affect not only one's play, but their overall relationship with the sport as well.

I was very lucky to have had so many amazing people in UCLWB help me overcome my negativity - and I would like to give back to this community that I grew to hold very close to heart. Feeling very strongly towards questions of mental health, I'd like to help future players feel more confident, or at least safe enough to talk about their on and off court worries, building a healthier environment in general.

I'd therefore really appreciate the opportunity to act as your welfare officer next year but in any case, I'm really looking forward to being part of the team again! :)

Kelly Hou

Hello!

I have been in UCLWB for 2 years and I personally enjoyed everything within the club. I am standing for the welfare officer primarily because I love this family, so I want to make sure everyone is happy and knows what to do when they face any issues.

Additionally, I believe both the mental and physical wellbeing are crucial not only in basketball game performance but also in life. It is an important position in a team, and I believe I will do a good job. This is because I am kind to people, and I will always as a mediator to resolve disputes and maintain a harmonious team atmosphere. I am also empathetic and approachable, making it not stressful at all for you to come to talk to me.

If I successfully become the welfare officer, I will firstly make sure that I am always present either in person or online, so you have someone to talk to when needed. I will also arrange activities to make sure both the mental and physical wellness. For instance, I will arrange sessions for us to go for running or to meditate together in nature. I will also make it clear that everyone can have a chat with me at any time, that I am always there for the team.
