As a fourth-year medical student, I recognise the pivotal role anatomy plays in deepening our understanding of the complexities of the human body. Motivated by this awareness, I aspire to take an active role in improving the accessibility of anatomy education at UCL by seeking the position of Vice President of the Anatomy Society.
If elected to the role of Vice President, my vision for the Anatomy Society includes the following goals:
- Forge collaborations with other societies: Building on my prior collaborations within surgical and medical societies, I appreciate the potential that interdisciplinary efforts hold in organising larger and more impactful events and workshops. I also aim to establish partnerships with anatomy societies from other universities, believing that such collaborations will enhance our society's engagement and outreach.
- Boost Member Interaction: Facilitate stronger connections within the society by implementing efficient channels like newsletters, social media groups, and regular updates. This guarantees that members remain well-informed about upcoming events and opportunities.
- Facilitate Research Opportunities for Members: Recognising anatomy as a field of constant innovation, I aim to leverage my experience in connecting with researchers to continue promoting initiatives that provide research opportunities for our members.
With your support, I am confident in our collective ability to achieve these objectives.
I’m Anindita and I am running to be the next Vice President of the Anatomy Society!
After COVID, the presence of the Anatomy Society as a key society within the Medical Sciences has decreased. To help re-establish its presence, I want to increase collaboration with the existing Medical Societies and Surgical Societies through:
- combined trivia events
- collaborative tutorials
- working together with the sub specialty committees in each of those societies
- increased access to anatomy resources through a shared google drive and a fortnightly newsletter
These collaborations will help us prevent the redundancy of tutorials relating to overlapping topics and thus increase turnout for our tutorials as well.
New trivia type events will help put a more interesting spin to anatomy to generate greater interest for it even outside the context of the MBBS curriculum.
All this will help spread more awareness of the tutorials and content that the whole committee will work hard to provide for you!
