Hey! I’m Shariya, a first year student in Psychology and Language Sciences. After having attended beginner’s boxing classes regularly these past two terms, I’ve fallen in love with the martial art and would love to contribute further to our club through my passion for roles like these.
As someone who has had their fair share of struggles with getting up to the pace of our boxing lessons, one of my aims as Welfare Officer would be to maintain a community where people of all levels of fitness are welcome and feel comfortable, and remove the stigma that solely able-bodied individuals are able to partake in martial arts.
Moreover, I would like to have the opportunity for individuals to check in with me and the rest of the committee in terms of their welfare should they require anything that would make their boxing experience more comfortable. This would also be a place to share details about any incidents of concern that we would be able to help with.
The welfare of our athletes should be our top priority, so I look forward to empowering them inside and outside the ring :)
With care,
Shariya - Your Prospective Welfare Officer
My name is Lanny, and I am currently in my third year of studying Neuroscience. Since 2022, I have been an active member of the UCL Amateur Boxing Club. I am honored to present my nomination for the position of Welfare Officer within our Club.
As your Welfare Officer, I will prioritize the development of comprehensive health and safety policies, promote mental health awareness, and be an accessible and supportive point of contact for all members. I am deeply committed to ensuring that our club remains a safe space where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential. Thank you for considering my nomination!
