Candidates

Myroslava Kovalchuk

Hello, my name is Myroslava(Mira) and I am running to be your President.

Experience

  • ADM Mathematics Society Marketing Director

I have worked as a Marketing Director in this society for over a year. I have reached out to companies like AmplifyME and supported ADM in organising our biggest events. These experiences have helped me learn our audience and understand how to cater best to you. My knowledge will help increase our turnout, allowing us to expand and form partnerships with influential companies.

  • UCL Women’s Rugby Treasurer

I arranged the first sponsorship deal in years, which has taught me how to best approach and negotiate with companies. I have also learnt to manage a society’s finances and work with the Students Union to maximise them.

  • UCL Ukrainian Society Social Secretary

I have helped contact and host high-profile speakers. Through this position I have also gained experience in working with venues near UCL.

Goals for society

  • Host more career events and build partnerships with potential employers (in Finance, Technology, Academia etc.)
  • Increase the turnout for our events
  • Organise a variety of social events (picnics, pub socials etc.)
  • Support the future Treasurer in finding a sponsorship

Goals for committee

  • Create a supportive environment within the committee
  • Make sure everyone’s workload is balanced
  • Ensure that everyone’s opinion is taken into account during decision-making

I hope I can continue building ADM and supporting its members!

Daya Nidhan Singh

My motives

Most students are often jaded by life, and are indifferent to the existence of most societal events. Despite this, I believe that anything is worth doing if it can make just one person’s day that bit better, or if it forms an environment where someone is happier. That is why, as President, my aim would be to provide people with as many opportunities as possible to benefit both their confidence in their career, and their wellbeing overall.

Why You Should Vote for Me

I wish to build upon the success of this year, providing numerous events to cater to a range of people, rather than fewer specific events that cater to a small range.

  • One of my strengths is puzzle and quiz design; I hope to do more pub quizzes and academic events [e.g. my integration bee and headsolving contests this year] as they aid social and academic development.
  • Next year needs more career-based talks, such as the `Reach of Mathematics' talks I have curated; we need a wider coverage not only in academia, but in the workplace too.
  • I want to organise more trips next year; this is more doable with increased funding. I believe I have the people and communication skills to find sponsors and speakers from outside of UCL.
  • Widening participation is important to me, especially with a 50/50 gender split in the department. Hence, I wish to make more efforts such as the common room map to highlight this.

Overall I think that my well evidenced abilities make me a viable candidate for president next year!
