Jodie Annie Lawrence-Taylor

I’m Jodie, a second year BSc archaeology student hoping to take on the position of Treasurer. Tennis Society has been integral to my university experience: as a first year, I captained W1 and have competed for the team this year, whilst also developing my closest friendships within society. I would love to re-engage with the management side and contribute to the society's ongoing success.

Tennis has always been prominent in my life, having competed as a junior, worked for IBM at Wimbledon, and coached part-time. I spent two years on a sports scholarship at UMass where I worked with the university to provide content, manage outreach, and increase engagement. This experience helped prepare me to captain the female teams at STSC where I organised matches and managed team finances. I acquired funds by securing sponsorship from businesses, sports brands, and supporters, then divided them between allocations such as team kit, balls, court bookings and player expenses.

If elected, I hope to continue the financial growth and prosperity of the society, whilst providing for members. I would ensure that all court costs are covered for R&D, LUSL and BUCS, and quality equipment and kit is available through establishing sponsorship deals for the society. I also believe it is important to invest in events such as the tennis ball, socials, varsity, and inter-university matches to build a sense of unity and team spirit across all levels, creating pride at being a part of UCL Tennis.

Leo Saiu-Bell

Hi everyone, I’m Leo, a second year maths student and a current M3 player. Tennis has been such an integral part of my life, as it’s my favourite activity to take part in. I genuinely love every aspect the game offers, whether it’s playing, coaching, umpiring, or managing finances - all of which are responsibilities I’ve taken on at my hometown tennis club. I’ve been in Tennis Society for two years now, moving my way up from R&D to M3, getting to meet so many of you at each level. It’s also been so great seeing a bunch of you at all the various tennis events, socials, and trainings. I’ve also had the honour of captaining the new LUSL Rec team, allowing me to work closely with many of the other current committee members. It has given me a clear understanding of how this society runs and how vital communication and organisational skills are - both of which I have practiced a lot in this position. I strongly believe that my past work experience at my hometown tennis club coupled with my high involvement in Tennis Soceity has given me the knowledge and skills to do a great job as Treasurer. I know what it’s like to have such a positive experience with this society, and if elected, I would do my best to ensure that everyone else gets the most out of Tennis Society!

Daniel Chan

I am standing because of my growing passion for the sport of tennis, and my enjoyment of handling the finances of anything. I love the responsibility that being a treasurer carries; controlling the budget, planning how to spend the budget, and basically just taking care of all the financial needs of the club. My academic course (Econ and Stats) at UCL can assure other committee members that I have the ability to do so, and it would allow me to further gain experience that could help me in future careers. I am currently a LUSL recreational member, and have played in several matches for the club. This means that I do have some involvement in the club already, and I want to be able to increase my involvement next year. I played tennis when I was younger, and have just picked it back up, even though I have never stopped watching tennis throughout the years. Tennis has been in a good chunk of my life, and I hope to be able to continue my relationship with tennis at UCL, through more than just being a member. I would be open to any role at UCL tennis club, not just treasurer. Thanks for your consideration.

Lucie Bezner

Hey, I’m Lucie and I’m currently a Communication Secretary for UCL Tennis! As part of this marvellous committee, I got to meet and become friends with so many wonderful and bright people❤️. UCL Tennis managed to deliver another amazing year of beginner coaching, competitive trainings, socials and charity events. I am standing to ensure that next year’s UCL students have a similarly amazing experience with the club.

With a year of committee experience and being part of LUSL, I have built good relationships with other members, thus I am positive that I will operate well alongside our next president, to oversee all major events. It also permitted me to gain valuable insights into the logistics of events, socials, trainings and matches. I am very accustomed with the inner-workings of UCL Tennis, therefore I am ready to take on the challenge of becoming our next treasurer.

As treasurer, I will be managing the clubs finances such that our members will get the best possible tennis experience, no matter whether you are in R&D, LUSL or BUCS. My aim is to listen to and implement ideas from our committee by handling the finances. I'm eager to undertake training by the Student Union and get familiarised with the processes involved to manage the club’s budget. I am confident that, my skills, knowledge and past engagement with the society enable me to liaise and work well alongside our new president to profit the society as a whole.

I spare no expense in making UCL Tennis thrive! I promise full commitment and I endeavour to
