Candidates

Harshita Bakliwal

Hi everyone, I’m Harshita! I’m a first year Economics student and a dedicated Swiftie. As an avid spotify user, anyone looking through my top artists for the month would consistently spot Taylor Swift as the number 1 artist. Naturally, I hope to be the Vice President of the Taylor Swift Society at UCL next year. I believe I can bring the energy we need to shake it off at every Taylor Swift Society event, making life-long friends in the process!

I would love to carry on the legacy with the flagship karaoke nights, themed parties, trivia nights along with introducing new events such as a ball to dress up as our favourite era/ album of Taylor Swift; now who wouldn’t love that?

I look forward to the exciting opportunities that Taylor Swift Society would provide to collaborate with like-minded people and host events to remove any blank spaces from our university nights! Let’s not think “would’ve, could’ve, should’ve” - vote for ME! as your Vice President!

Miriam Gordon

Hey Taylor Swift Society, my name is Miriam Gordon and I am running to be one of your Vice Presidents next year. I’ve had the time of my life fighting dragons with you as the communications officer this year, and I don’t want my time helping run TSS to end.

As your communications officer, I have:

  • promoting society events via the TSS Instagram and WhatsApp group chat
  • documenting highlights during events (you may have likely seen me running around during Karaoke to get videos of everyone screaming the Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve bridge)
  • helped create calendars so you have a rough idea of what’s coming
  • created a new event - Taylor Swift presentation night where everyone had a wholesome chance to share their favourite takes on anything Taylor related
  • consistently attended meetings and helped the society with buying supplies for events such as Lover Party

As your Vice President, I hope to:

  • continue being an active member of the TSS committee and putting in the hard work to make sure we bring you guys the best events
  • use what I’ve learned from being a communications officer for TSS and food society to help contribute new ideas - as someone who’s led food crawls around London, perhaps we could do a London Boy one?
  • support collaborations with other societies and events within and outside of UCL

Long story short, you wanting me to be your VP would be my wildest dream and I hope you’ll have me!

Yangling Tong

Hey TSS!

I'm Yangling, a 1st-year "International Social and Political Studies" student stading for the Taylor Swift Society Vice-President position.

You may wonder what qualifies me to take this position in TSS? First and foremost, I am what you call an "Taylor Swift Addict", being rated as the top 0.005% of Taylor Swift listeners on Spotify last year with a total of 52,472 mins of Taylors music streamed (I know, I'm concerned for myself too).

I also consider myself an experienced leader, taking a plethroa of executive positions in the past whether that be in school societies or in the various NGO's that I was apart of. My time serving as President of my high school's Arts Council, and as Vice-President of the NGO "SJMF" for example, taught me to place great importance in cooperation, intitative, and organisation when working with a team. Moreover, my time attending the "Canadian Youth Leadership Conference" allowed me to meet like-minded youth leaders throughout Canada, and attend various talks by influential world leaders! This experience has provided me with great insight into what it takes to become a successful leader in a team!

My plans for TSS? More fun events (TS Pub Quiz/TS Halloween party anyone?), and even a group trip to Taylor's eventual London 'Eras Tour' Concert! Overall, I hope that you would vote for me to become your next VP for TSS so that we may work together to expand TSS so that we may expand ourselves and attract more UCL members to become Swifties!

Mehak Swani

Hi Everyone!

My name is Mehak, and I’m a huge Swiftie. TSS events have been a safe haven for me, a place where I’m surrounded by a community of vibrant, empowering, and lively individuals.

As your vice president, I hope to continue this legacy by making it my mission to get the red scarf back, organize Taylor dress-up parties, club events (Swiftogeddon), movie nights, album listening parties, host our favorite Mully’s karaoke and Phineas nights to show you that I’m the one who understands you, Been here all along (since the start of term). So, why can’t you see? You belong with me

If meeting new people and making friends for life sound like your idea of the best day, then vote for me as vice president so we can live out our wildest dreams!
