Karthig Thillaivasan

Hello, my name is Karthig Thillaivasan and I would like to run to be Media Officer for UCL Tamil Society. Having been Media and Marketing officer this year, the success of events were heavily dependent on spreading enthusiasm and we had a successful turnout to events to reflect this. As Media and Marketing officer, I take the commitment and legacy of events to the next level by utilising my media experience to promote UCL Tamil Society and improve on last year. I have skills in video editing using various platforms such as Canva, Adobe, iMovie, Filmora and Photoshop, hence I can employ such visual effects to promote our flagship events such as Panithuli and Dandanakka. I have carried out the role of media and marketing for 5 societies and 2 subcommittees, giving me maximum exposure to this role. With regards to marketing, I have contacts with many people and attend events in many societies, giving me the opportunity to reach as many people as possible. My soft skills include communication and teamwork, which is useful to liaise with other Tamil Societies and bring innovative ideas to the table, utilising various online platforms to enhance publicity. Importantly, I would like our events to reach as many students as possible around UCL (both Tamils and non-Tamils) and especially target non-Tamils to raise awareness of our rich culture through promotion of Panithuli, where people can really gain a snapshot of the culture from the food to the traditional attire.

Terence Placidus

Hey guys, my name is Terence and I am a 3rd year in EEE. I am putting myself forward for the Media and Marketing role as my goal is to further expand on the great job the current media team have done, and use this opportunity to add a new flair to our society's social pages, helping our identity to stand out even more. As a third year who's been in many different societies, I have had the chance to see how they use different styles and formats to gain attention and engagement from students, and I would like to be able to apply this to Tamil Society and use my own skills to design future posts and graphics. Over the past year, I took it upon myself to learn how to use creation tools like Adobe PS, PP and Canva, and spent free time developing my own graphics for fun, and I would love to use what I have learnt to help showcase Tamil Society's culture to the fullest through our social pages. Overall, if you guys vote for me, I will do my best to ensure that all future events and posts promoted on our social pages will be innovative and represent our culture with style.

Libby Chandrakumar

I want to have a platform where I can use my creativity to inform the members of very information and upcoming socials or events. This is a very crucial job as the media would be the main form of communication and I want to be a part of creating posts and captions to promote the events we would work so hard to organise. Additionally, I think my experience with my TikTok account will aid me using different forms of media and content styles to make an overall engaging and exciting experience!

Mathu Ratnakumar

Heyy guys, I’m Mathu and I’m standing to be re-elected as the Media and Marketing officer next year.

Designing media for Tamil Society this year has been very important for re-establishing UCL TSoc. This year, I created the new UCL TSoc logo and have been designing the insta posts so far, making sure we have the best visuals to promote our events.

The best way I can make a positive impact on Tamil Society is through using my skills in digital design to create engaging posts for our insta which have a huge impact on event turnout and creating buzz for our socials and events.

As a collaborative and highly-motivated individual, I can bring new, creative ideas to the team as well as being ready to help out at events where needed.

I would love to continue representing TSoc for media and marketing and have lots of new ideas for next year. For example, I’d like to create a UCL TSoc website, to inform about upcoming events (social, arts, sport), charity/outreach activities and sports teams.

Vote for me if you want to see more eye-catching visuals and engaging content that are going to keep our events and socials packed and make sure next year’s TSoc is even more successful.
