What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

An active engagement between the students and the union is crucial in making policy decisions. I will be the direct means of communication between the students and the Trustee Board.

I will ensure that our community is a safe and comfortable place for all. If there are issues for the students that prevent this, I will stand up for them.

Honesty, openness, and integrity. As a current liberation officer, I value diversity and respect within the community by preserving integrity. I will be honest with the students and the union, and I won't tolerate any behaviour that diminishes one’s dignity.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

As the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) students’ officer, I have been an active participant in shaping the student experience at UCL. So, I am aware of the basic administrative process in the union. I have been representing BME students’ interests in zone meetings and Union Executive meetings for the past months, which I have enjoyed doing. Last December, I changed the name of the BME network to the People Of Colour (POC) students’ network based on student opinion. My core values lie in bringing student voices to union meetings and making impartial yet insightful decisions for the students.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Being a students' officer taught me to be a good representative and a leader. Furthermore, I work with the union, so I am familiar with its system and environment. Most importantly, I have been part of the process that integrated students' voices into union governance. Therefore, I believe that UCL students can directly shape their own community, and I am ready to commit more to this process as a Trustee.

I put my trust in you for the future of the union. And I want you to trust me in shaping our future together. I know what I am doing. I will ensure that the role achieves what it aims to do.

Mariya Kachwala
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

Being a trustee is an extremely important job. By being a student trustee, I would hope to:

  • Make UCL’s efforts for their students more transparent.
  • Enabling financing counselling for the students due to the cost of living crisis.
  • Make UCL more democratic by increasing the say of students in policy decisions concerning them.
  • Setting up a portal for inputs from students about the changes that they would like to see and working on meeting those expectations.
  • Collaborate with other universities across London for events related to sustainability and careers to make an impact outside of UCL.
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

In the span of one year, I’ve been a part of different aspects of UCL which has helped me gauge a better understanding of its functioning.

  • Being a member of the Active Bystander team, I have had conversations with diverse people which has helped me understand their perspectives and find commonalities.
  • Being part of the UCL Sustainability Council, I have had the opportunity to interact with the SU and UCL Careers staff to understand the priorities of the university in terms of sustainability.
  • Being part of the ArtsUCL community has given me a distinct lens of looking at our creative side.
Please summarise why students should vote for you.

It is through all of these distinct experiences and my personal perspectives of being a female international student, I am confident I have had the unique opportunity to see a mix of different aspects of what UCL is made of, and it is through these understandings that I am confident I have the tools to bring in a difference.

Therefore, if you agree with my ideas and believe in my experiences please VOTE for me and I ensure you guys won't be disappointed.

Thank you for taking out your time in reading this! I really appreciate it:)

Shirley Su
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I am devoted to advising all UCL students to the best of my ability, providing more resources for you and assisting you making better use of all UCL resources. And I want to help you better integrate into the UCL community. By noticing that many students are concerned about financial issues and academic performance, as well as challenging oral expressions and social interactions, especially for international students, I wish to raise more practical opportunities and help with these issues with other committees to improve the whole welfare.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I founded two clubs in high school, including Design Club and Running club and I have been the vice President of General Manager Society. I have also been Director of the Department of Publicity in the Student Union for a year, during which we organised and coordinated various arts activities with other departments or other schools in our community. These experiences enhanced my ability of communication and taught me the collaboration with others in different teams and I learned to put others' interests ahead of my own and actively care about each one in a group.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I am patient and sensitive to people in need. And I am eager to do whatever I can to make people around me better.

Secondly, my experience in previous societies and student union has made me gained the qualities of teamwork, decision-making and strategy-development needed as a student trustee.

I also have a strong sense of responsibility and strive for perfection in my work. I would therefore take seriously and thoroughly review any duties that are given to me.

I will ensure that your voice can be actually reflected and your problems and concerns to be put into practice in our board.

Ooj Amit Srivastava
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

Primarily achieving what the requirements are: ensuring financial/structural stability and then,

enabling the students' union to do more:

I want to unlock more money, access, and support; enable grander events and cheaper tickets; and cater to students at a more individual level.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I have built and run multiple companies each in very different environments and so I learnt solid financial know-how, but more importantly, I'm able to adapt to new financial concepts quickly and properly. I get it. I am sharp, comprehensive, and have a naturally very logically-thinking mind. I have also had an unusual amount of experience with natural language processing, debate, and analysis. All these make me very well suited to the 'maintaining financial compliance' side of the trustee role. I am also highly ambitious and trust UCL SU can be enabled to do much more and I want to do it.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Your events can be bigger, tickets & food cheaper, music louder, pockets deeper, budget fatter... like literally everything that money can improve, will be improved. I will get more money. I will make more rich. We be richer. rich money rich.
