Statistics Society: Treasurer

Hi everyone, my name is Varun and I am a 2nd-year Economics and Statistics student.

USS has been growing steadily over the past few years and as Treasurer, I aim to further solidify its status as one of the UK’s largest university statistics societies by finding innovative ways to expand its financial reach, helping us deliver a more action-packed year than ever before.

Having been the society’s Welfare Officer this year, I gained an idea of the events that members enjoyed and ones we could add to next year’s calendar. I will continue to help in organising mental health awareness and workshops, as well as workload and stress management talks.

As Treasurer, however, I will be able to combine this with managing accounts and identifying new ways to save and generate money, such as introducing fresh, diversified merchandise and arranging sponsorship deals with attractive firms. I will ensure that sponsors provide value to students, either in the form of career events or opportunities.

I will strive to make members the focus of the society; I am keen to listen to your feedback on planning events and allocating our budget so that you play an active role. I will work closely with the Events Director to ensure that we deliver spectacular experiences through events such as sports activities and a first Annual Ball.

As Treasurer, I will do my all to continue to make USS an accessible, diverse, and inclusive society where everyone feels welcome. I hope your vote can help me!

Having worked in the Treasury department for the past two terms as a first year representative, I wish to become a Treasurer in the Statistics Society because I have a passion for finance and wish to use my abilities to help the society succeed.

I would be responsible for managing the society's finances by creating and managing budgets, handling transactions, and maintaining accurate records. Due to my interest in the sector and my pursuit of a finance degree, I believe I possess the skills and experience necessary for this position, including a high level of attention to detail and a solid understanding of the principles of finance.

In addition, I am looking forward to working with other members of the society to organise events, promote membership, and grow the society.

Overall, I believe that becoming a Treasurer in the Statistics society would be a great way to use my financial skills to make a meaningful impact in the society and the broader community.

Hi, I’m Zsigmond, a first-year statistics, economics and finance student and first-year representative for the statistics society.

As treasurer, my primary goal would be to increase funding for the society by securing sponsorships from a range of firms within statistics, data science and finance. This additional funding would allow for larger social events at no extra cost to society members. Furthermore, having close ties with these firms will allow for more know-your-industry (KYI) sessions and workshops held in collaboration with these firms.

Having gained experience at multiple accounting firms, personal budgeting and studying accounting at school makes me most suited for the treasurer role. Attention to detail, financial literacy and management skills are what I would bring to the table to help the statistics society grow financially.
