As a current Event Executive of the UCL Statistics Society, I am proud of my journey in this organization. I joined as a First-Year Representative, eager to be part of a community that shared my passion for statistics. For the past five months, I have been an active member of the Event Department, working hard to make our events successful.

During this time, I organized a consulting event all by myself, which was a great learning experience for me. I networked with consultants at EY Parthenon and interviewed speakers for the event. The success of this event caught the attention of the committee, and I was promoted to Event Executive. It's rare for a First-Year Representative to get promoted so quickly, but my dedication and hard work were recognized.

My experience in the society has taught me a lot about teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. I have gained valuable skills that I know will be useful in any future roles I take on. I am confident in my ability to navigate any challenges that come my way and have a good understanding of how the committee works.

Now, I am excited to take on an even more significant role in the society. I want to continue contributing to the community that has given me so much and help organize even more successful events. I believe that I can make a positive impact and help the society achieve its goals.

As course representative, I have been in contact with my professors and fellow students in the dept; my role allowed me to understand their problems and help take them to higher authorities. These interactions pushed me to nominate myself as President of the Statistical society. If chosen as president, my main goals would be to maintain the current positive reputation, legacy and sponsorships while also working towards building on these strong foundations.

Given recent trends, many people are moving towards a career in statistics, given the indispensable skills it offers, and I want to help aspirants at UCL pave their path using the network we offer them. I would organise panel discussions and coffee chats with individuals who have already gone through the initial phases and are now successful in the field. This would offer our members the opportunity to ask questions, learn about new careers and inspire them to aim for nothing but the best.

Further, as a student studying Statistics, I have noticed and heard from colleagues that our department isn’t the most social, making it hard to make friends. I aim to fix this by organising social events wherein like-minded students with interest in Statistics can meet and develop friendships.

As president, I intend to raise the profile of the UCL Statistical Society among other university societies, students, and employers. I am excited to help USS develop. I look forward to working with and for you all!
