Stage Crew Society: Publicity Officer

Hey! It was really fantastic that I've got involved in stagecrew this year! I've encountered a great deal of new and interesting stuff that I would never be able to do if I did not join stagecrew! And thanks to the promotion of stagecrew's committee, I was informed a lot of chances to explore new stuff. This really interests me to do the role as as publicity officer.

Well, I consider myself a funny person who loves to record various interesting or ridiculous stuff happening in my life on internet. This would be helpful for promotion as relaxing and funny contents are always more catchy and attractive to audiences.

If I could get elected, I will stick on what the current  publicity officer is doing — replying the dm on instagram clearly, and sometimes even immediately! It really helped me a lot to confirm information and made my life much easier as a fresher. I will also try my best to make each lovely instagram posts as clear as possible, as well as attaching nicely produced pictures on it. I like taking photos and videos, and I am able to edit videos and pictures, which may be the skills that are useful to handle this job!

Having been on Stage Crew for multiple external and Blooms shows this year, I have experience with how stage crew society is run and the organisation of theatre shows. The publicity over the year has been great and it has encouraged me to join Stage Crew and take on crew roles for shows. As Publicity officer, I would like to take the commitment and legacy of such events to the next level by utilising my media experience to promote all events hosted by Stage Crew Society. Having organisational skills, I plan my week to ensure I can still concentrate and take my time to ensure posts are best quality as possible, and are advertised in a timely manner. Aside from my hardworking nature and personality, I have skills in video editing using various platforms such as Canva, Adobe, iMovie, Filmora and Photoshop, hence I have exposure to many visual effects. I am currently involved in the role of media and marketing for UCL Sri Lankan Society, UCL Medical Society and UCL Surgical Society, where I create posts to promote events and spread enthusiasm. Events in these occasions have been successful in terms of reach and turnout was more than expected. I would be able to channel this expertise to further enhance the visual and promotional aspects of events, through maintenance of our social media outlets. Overall, I aim to encourage as many people as possible to take part in theatre shows as crew member.
