Hi I’m Lara! I have been your social squash sec this academic year, and next year I’d love to be your President. This year I started the Social Squash Cup which more than 30 people competed in, came up with the structure of the Buddy system which has seen beginners receive extra coaching from more advanced players, and found the venue the Dilly. As President I’d continue to start new initiatives as well as focus on making squash a more social and community-based society. We have so many devoted players and next year I would run consistent socials/ big Christmas and summer events so that we can be both amazing at squash and have fun as a society. I would also make it a priority for us to have more court time at venues nearby or at BF so that squash would be available to all members at least 3 times a week. I'd love your vote!

I've played squash for over ten years, and I have always found a deep love and connection for the game, from playing in Canada as a teenager, through high school as my school's squash captain, and over the past three years at UCL. One thing that makes squash so special to me is the consistent progress that happens between practices and matches. Seeing and feeling oneself improve over time feels amazing and instills confidence, and fuels a desire to continue to learn. I am truly passionate about the sport and the people that play it, and that is why I am running to be your Squash Club President for 23/24. Over the last three years playing squash with UCL I've come to have a great understanding of how the club is run and how it runs best, whether by helping run events as Squash Club Chairman (now known as Vice President) or while organizing and attending matches as 2nd Team Captain in 21/22. Entering my final year at UCL, I would love to embrace the responsibility held as Squash Club President, and look forward to learning about what works best for every one of you so that we can translate it into a special year ahead. As President, my most important values would be transparency and approachability, as I feel like it is through an understanding of both what the community wants and how the club can provide for it that we can most enjoy the privilege it is to play squash. I look forward to spreading the game throughout UCL as a representative of our community.
