Gagan Riyat

I would like to take on the role of volunteering officer as I believe it is imperative to put the concept “Seva” into practice. I believe all humans have a duty to help those in need and I would love to plan events to give individuals the opportunity to practice selfless service. To encourage more participation in volunteering, I would like to make events more interactive and social so that people are also able to create bonds with each other.

Jasneet Dhaliwal

Throughout my involvement with seva at the Gudwara and volunteering at NishkamSWAT (Weekly Homeless Outreach Service at the Strand), I hope to inspire other students and individuals to become more involved with service to the community. Not only do we provide aid and help those less fortunate than ourselves, but it is also a way to give back to society and be grateful for what we have. If elected for this position, I hope to provide more volunteering opportunities and curate creative and fun events for fundraisers as well!

Shweta Sharma

My name is Shweta and I am currently studying Population Health Sciences with Data Science. I am a firm believer in Seva and passionate about helping others as much as I can. My previous volunteering experiences have taught me the importance of serving others and giving back to the community. I have volunteered at a hospice where I helped out in fundraising events and provided support to patients and their families. During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, I also volunteered at vaccination sites to assist with the vaccination efforts.

Additionally, I have experience in organising charity events such as Red Nose Day, Sports Relief, and Children in Need during my time in secondary school and sixth form. These experiences have given me a strong foundation in event planning, fundraising, and communication. I thoroughly enjoyed being a part the Sikh society as a First year representative in my first year and helping out in events therefore I would like to continue working with the committee and help execute events.

If selected as the Volunteering Officer for the Sikh Society, I would work to provide more opportunities for members to engage in Seva and give back to the community. I believe that my experience and passion for volunteering would make me a valuable member of the committee. I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to the Sikh Society and help make a positive impact in the community.
