Konstantin Dilchev

Hello everyone, I am Konstantin Dilchev, a second-year HPE student, and I am applying for President to continue the purpose of our Society.

SSEES Society is a great opportunity for everyone to get involved in initiatives, welfare events, and campaigns in addition to their university degree. Such events help us get to know each other better, acquire additional knowledge on the region, and allow us to meet with influential public figures. I have been part of the Society Committee since my first year at UCL. That allowed me to deeply understand its objectives by actively cooperating with fellow committee members and working with prominent previous presidents. During my time on the committee, I was awarded by UCL with a Commendation Award for exemplary service to student activities and a Gold award for society development, and I am very much excited to continue the legacy of SSEES Society and expand its impact even further.

As a president, I will stand to preserve the ongoing educational and welfare events, such as the embassy and museum visits, and cultural events related to the region. I will also develop a line of extracurricular activities that will support the well-being of SSEES Students and allow them to socialize with their peers.

I would be delighted to lead a Society that is both entertaining and helpful for all students and is one which allows everyone to meet new people in a friendly environment and discover unique things about the East European region.

Stefan Lercher

I’m Stefan and I am running to be your next SSEES president.

I don’t make promises that I can’t keep. So I have just one promise to you. By the end of my term, SSEES Society will be known as the best society at UCL. How will I achieve that? Simple. At the Stefan Bloc we have a great and experienced team ready to hit the ground running from day one.

We will:

- Improve academic events: bring more high-profile speakers to SSEES, host panels and events with other societies.

- Make embassy visits regular and frequent.

- Work closely with SSEES Careers Team to support students with career orientation

- *Insert election promise here*

- Affordable and aesthetic SSEES merch - for memories not profit.

- Run a greater variation of social events - continuing a regular SSEES ball and karaoke, introducing “beverage” tasting sessions, ice skating, laser tag and much more.

We have a budget plan for the next academic year - and we know that we can afford all this - thanks to the great fundraising efforts by the previous committees. We will also utilise the additional funding available like the Friends Trust or Welfare Fund.

I have the experience of co-operating with the Student Union to advance Students’ issues and concerns - as your PSE course representative and as UCL NUS delegate.
